Democrats have tuned up quite the closing argument for this election, no? Half of America is 'garbage,' which the media reports as a no-biggie when the President says it during a campaign call -- but a national crisis when an opening-act comedian says it about an island at a rally.
Now, homophobia is apparently totes cool for progressives, too. During a rally in Michigan, Governor Tim "Snitch Hotline" Walz recounted how miserable working-class people had it in his state during the opening days of the pandemic, neglecting to mention that he was the cause of much of that misery. Walz wanted to make a class-warfare argument against Elon Musk for supporting Trump, and referred to him as "that gay guy."
Nope, not kidding. Here it is:
WALZ: So now, I suppose it wasn't too bad, thinking back to that economy, if you were a billionaire. Elon Musk, for example, say. That guy -- that gay guy -- [giggles] -- Michigan knows that word. [Laughter] Look, that dude got a tax cut and the rest of us got shafted on the whole deal. How'd that work out?
Tim Walz called Elon Musk “gay” on Friday — but the Harris-Walz campaign claimed the Democratic vice presidential nominee misspoke, leading to the inadvertent comment.
“That guy, that gay guy,” Walz said of Musk while talking about taxes on the campaign trail in Michigan.
What did the Kamala Harris campaign have to say about this homophobic -- and weird -- attack? Behold, the Biden Stutter Excuse has made another appearance!
The Harris-Walz campaign told The Post Friday night that the Minnesota governor “stuttered” while trying to say “that guy got.”
“In the video, you can hear someone in the crowd yell ‘dips–t! when the governor brings up Musk,” a campaign spokesman said. “The governor started laughing and stuttered while trying to say ‘that guy got’ — he did not refer to Elon as a gay guy.”
Ahem. Watch the video above and try to reconcile that explanation with the evidence of your own eyes. Did it sound like Walz stuttered into saying "gay guy"? Did he stop and correct himself? No to both; in fact, Walz giggled and remarked that he'd stuck the landing on the insult. He absolutely called Musk a "gay guy" and meant it as an insult.
If Donald Trump had done this, the Protection Racket Media would have had screaming headlines this morning accusing him of homophobia. It would have been a National Crisis, and another piece of evidence that The Dark Night of Fascism had begun its descent. Where are the LGBTQ activists who'd run screaming into the streets if a Republican used "gay" as a slur?
The truly offensive part of this is the double standard applied by media. The New York Times covered it by framing it as a "Republicans pounce" moment in a live-blog entry. Jazmine Ulloa wrote that Walz "appear[ed] to play it off as the crowd laughed." But at least they did cover it; the same Protection Racket Media that made a joke about Puerto Rico from an insult comic into a catastrophic racist incident for the past week didn't even bother to mention this.
Call it progressive privilege. What it truly is: corruption.
