A warning, however: It’s not what you think — if it’s anything at all. The New York Post got a lot of attention last night on Twitter for this story, but they related this alleged development from a Sunday report by Soldier of Fortune Magazine, based on “three security sources.” And while the report didn’t get any more specific about the perp than the rather odd construct of the “Biden family orbit,” the sources claim that it didn’t come from the most usual of the usual suspects — Hunter Biden.

The sources told magazine publisher Susan Katz Keating that the Secret Service identified the perp specifically, however, and told Joe Biden the solution to the whodunit — er, the whosnortedit:

The Secret Service told President Joe Biden the name of the person who brought a packet of cocaine into the White House last month, according to three security sources with direct knowledge of the incident.

All three sources independently told Soldier of Fortune the same name, which arose from an investigation into the incident. The sources currently work for a U.S. government agency, and are not authorized to speak to the media. …

When cocaine was found inside the White House, some observers speculated that the drug belonged to Hunter Biden. But security sources told Soldier of Fortune that the First Son was not involved.

“It was someone within the Biden family orbit, and it wasn’t Hunter,” another source said.

Contra earlier claims by the White House and Secret Service, Keating’s sources claim that investigators did get a fingerprint off of the baggie containing the cocaine. That fingerprint led to a single suspect, they claim, despite denials from the Biden administration that no fingerprints could be detected on the baggie. That puzzled a number of experts, who wondered how someone could forget a bag of cocaine in the White House — but yet remember to wipe any fingerprints off of it in case it was discovered.

So is this on the level? Color me a bit skeptical. If three sources in the Secret Service or inside the White House want to reveal this information, there are better channels than Soldier of Fortune Magazine. To be fair, there are a lot more channels which would be worse — like most mainstream media outlets, which spend almost all of their time running a protection racket for the Bidens. Maybe SoFM is a favorite magazine for one or more of the sources, but why go there when they could just as easily go to the House Oversight Committee? James Comer has been actively seeking information just like this for several weeks now, and the sources would have more credibility as whistleblowers than leakers to a genre publication like SoFM.

For its part, the Secret Service denies that they identified anyone as the perp, and the NY Post is trying to take a hands-off approach to the story they amplified:

The Post has not been able to independently confirm the Soldier of Fortune report and the Secret Service has vehemently denied it. …

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told The Post that Soldier of Fortune’s claim that the agency identified the cocaine’s owner and then briefed the president “is false.”

“The Secret Service does not know who transported the small bag of cocaine into the White House,” Guglielmi said.

Color me a bit skeptical about that, too. The US Secret Service is not just a protective service but also a top-notch investigative agency as well, particularly in counterfeiting. It strains credulity that anyone could sneak cocaine into the White House business areas without detection, and that once there, surveillance and forensics could not identify its owner. As many people said at the time, had this been anthrax rather than cocaine, does anyone believe that the USSS would have failed to identify its origin and its owner — and given up in less than two weeks to find those answers?

Taking the USSS response at face value, this would be an unprecedented humiliation of the agency. One imagines that they would not have been quick to close such a case with that in mind — and certainly not after just 11 days. The alternative does seem more believable — that the USSS did discover the owner, but that the perp was in the “Biden family orbit,” and so the agency wants to protect Biden from that humiliation instead.

That, however, remains in the realm of speculation, not conclusive proof — even for all of us amateur Hercule Poirots, Miss Marples, and Ellery Queens. But it’s still pretty suspicious, and hopefully Comer or someone else can get reliable testimony on the record to find out what in the Sam Hill happened at the White House … and by whom.
