Biden Inc and the Protection Racket Media: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

What is ‘Biden Inc’? “It’s a money-laundering operation,” Adam Baldwin declares after watching the House Oversight press conference earlier in the day. “They were structuring all of these deposits though a complicated web of LLCs,” and for good reason — to hide the Bidens’ connections to foreign interests and influencers. But did they need to hide them? After all, as I point out, the media has done their best to bury the influence-peddling stories about the Bidens since at least October 2020, right up to yesterday’s presser. “CNN wasn’t there, NBC wasn’t there, ABC, CBS — even C-SPAN wasn’t there,” I point out. “C-SPAN has three channels, and they couldn’t spare a channel,” I continue, “for a presentation of how the president’s family, while he was vice-president, was creating [that] sort of money-laundering operation.”

Welcome back to our VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

Duane wrote this morning about what I may start calling the Protection Racket Media — he calls it “regime media,” which is more literally true — in another context. Adam and I debated the problem yesterday, and said that I may not be skeptical enough about it. “Ed, Ed, Ed,” Adam sighs, “there you go again, expecting the media to behave ethically.” We both take a few shots at the Pulitzers, and Adam returns to the futility of expecting the media to live up to its vaunted ‘principles’.  The Bidens and the media “are going to get away with it,” Adam predicts, “unless Comer and his group can write legislation” to prohibit this kind of corruption. “Unless and until there’s a Republican in the White House,” Adam concludes, “the Bidens will get away with it.”

Perhaps the media has gotten more brazen, I suggest. Yesterday’s arrest of George Santos may have been a coincidence, but somehow I doubt it. James Comer warned Merrick Garland two days before the presser as a means to keep the DoJ from cutting a plea deal with Hunter, but the DoJ seems to have made other use of the heads-up. “They arrested George Santos” just hours ahead of the presser, a convenient distraction that the national media just ate up. “Santos is definitely a skeezy figure,” I say, and “I’m not saying that Santos is some sort of scapegoat here, but it’s awfully interesting timing, isn’t it? And,” I continue,” isn’t it awfully interesting that all the major networks are covering the George Santos case in moment-by-moment developments … and they’re not saying a word about the Hunter Biden stuff.”

There’s plenty more in the conversation, so be sure to watch it all — and join the conversation in the comments!
