What stories topped your priority lists this week? I chose a couple of topics for our new Friday show, but Duane Patterson brought a laundry list. I called it “the David Letterman version of The Week in Review show,” as Duane stepped through his topics. At the top of both our lists, however, were the weaponization of the FBI and the exposure in the hearings. But is Joe Biden’s admission that he has classified material dating back to 1974 the most significant? Does that make Biden “a gaslighting self-admitted felon,” as Duane suggests?

Welcome to our new VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.
Here’s the clip that prompted Duane’s remark:

We had this up in the Headlines yesterday for the same reason as well. “That’s a felony, Ed,” Duane says, while I point out that all of these classified-material retention issues are felonies — if prosecuted. The question remains as to whether prosecutors will charge anyone involved in the Biden-Trump-Pence scandal.
For me, the most important story of the week is a tie between the FBI hearings and the whistleblower from St. Louis who revealed the sickening activities in her pediatric gender clinic. It won’t get big headlines, but that is what makes Jamie Reed’s essay so important to discuss.
Other topics include:
- Biden’s State of the Union speech, in which I convince Duane of my longstanding opinion about such events
- House Republicans’ incompetence at televised congressional hearings
- FBI’s remarkably stupid targeting of “radical traditionalist Catholics” — and the malign influence of the SPLC
- The 2024 field is taking shape, although I’m a lot more skeptical (and amused) about Duane’s list
There’s plenty more fun to be had, and be sure to note how I come to the defense of our colleague Mike Gallagher. I got your back, brother!
Enjoy the show, and be sure to join the conversation in the comments!
