Second look at Piers Morgan? This is a couple of days old but still well worth watching, if just to see Piers Morgan and Ben Shapiro in the same room — and largely agreeing on the danger of PC culture. Morgan puts this entirely on his own political allies, arguing that liberals are employing “a kind of a version of fascism” to silence everyone who won’t agree to live under their diktats. If you think differently, or heaven forfend speak differently, Morgan tells Shapiro, liberals will “ruin your life … scream abuse at you,” and completely destroy whatever vestiges remain of your career and family (via Townhall):

Liberals wonder where populism originates, Morgan tells Shapiro, but completely miss the truth — they have created it through their own illiberalism. “Populism is rising because liberals have become unbearable, and I speak as a liberal, okay? Liberals,” Morgan continues, “have become utterly, pathetically illiberal and it’s a massive problem. … What’s the point of calling yourself a liberal if you don’t allow anyone else to have a different view?”

That’s an easy question to answer — it’s because actual liberals have been eclipsed by progressives who still use the “liberal” identity as sheep’s clothing. Progressives are not ‘liberal’ in either the classic or even modern sense. They are proto-fascists who vent their spleens at every opportunity and yet claim that criticism of them is either a symptom of racism, sexism, colonialism, capitalism, or whatever -ism is fashionably unfashionable at the moment. Morgan has it spot-on in that the point isn’t to win on policy or intellectual grounds but to silence everyone and take charge by force or the threat of personal destruction. Antifa is the apotheosis of this phenomenon, a chilling reminder of how the fascists came to power in the 1920s and 1930s in Europe; today’s hard-line progressives want to use that same path to power. Only today, they call it “cancel culture” as cover for its fascist qualities.

Be sure to enjoy this moment of unvarnished truth-telling before it gets memory-holed. Maybe we can watch this again instead of the hostless Emmy awards.
