Obamateurism of the Day

I know that Barack Obama doesn’t get out much these days, but just because he’s a loner doesn’t mean Obama shouldn’t know who runs the Senate. In a press conference last week talking about his failed jobs bill, Obama seemed to think that Mitch McConnell runs the upper chamber:

But I’m also dealing with a Republican Majority Leader who said that his number-one goal was to beat me — not put Americans back to work, not grow the economy, not help small businesses expand, but to defeat me. And he’s been saying that now for a couple of years.

That’s a reference to McConnell, from an interview he gave in July. Except that McConnell isn’t the Majority Leader, nor is any other Republican in the Senate.  That’s Harry Reid, who couldn’t even keep all of his own caucus out of the filibuster that stopped the jobs bill.

Maybe Obama should talk more with McConnell and less with Reid.  McConnell seems to get more accomplished.  (h/t JMH)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
