Video: The inevitable RNC "We're looking to raise taxes in 2013" ad

As I wrote last week in the OOTD series, no one should be surprised to see the RNC feature Barack Obama’s explanation of tax increases he demands as part of the deal to solve the debt-ceiling issue.  If anything, I’m surprised it took the RNC nine days to put Obama’s promise of second-term tax hikes into a new campaign ad.  “Change Direction 3” features Obama’s answer at the second debt-ceiling press conference as its centerpiece:

According to a source at the RNC, this ad will run in the interior West states of New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada, starting today. Obama claimed that territory in 2008, and Republicans didn’t have too much success in 2010 in Colorado and Nevada. The RNC probably wants to start softening the ground now for a big push in 2012. This ad might do well in the Rust Belt states, too, especially Pennsylvania and Indiana. But if voters in those states don’t see this particular ad, they shouldn’t feel left out. Expect the Republican Party and the eventual presidential nominee to highlight Obama’s promise to raise taxes in his second term repeatedly — and effectively.
