Obamateurism of the Day

Will Barack Obama run on Hope and Change again in 2012? Not too many people are fans these days of change, apparently not even Obama himself. Just before the 2008 election, Obama made it clear that he was looking forward to “fundamentally transforming the United States of America”:

As Jim Geraghty noted in early spring, Obama doesn’t like fundamental change any more, at least not as long as it’s someone else’s idea of change:

But the way [Ryan’s] plan achieves those goals would lead to a fundamentally different America than the one we’ve known certainly in my lifetime. In fact, I think it would be fundamentally different than what we’ve known throughout our history.

Remember when Obama liked the idea of fundamental transformation? All of a sudden, Obama turned into a traditionalist. Couldn’t someone at the White House have picked a synonym for “fundamentally,” given Obama’s campaign claims?

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
