Carter resting comfortably after hospitalization

After getting rushed to the hospital directly from his flight on a book-signing tour, Jimmy Carter appears to have nothing more serious than an upset stomach and perhaps some exhaustion from the travel.  At 85, though, neither of those conditions should be taken lightly — and fortunately, no one brushed them off:

Cleveland Hopkins Airport officials told NewsChannel5 that airport EMS crews were called to an incoming Delta flight at 11:30 a.m. for a passenger who felt sick. Upon arrival, they learned that the passenger was President Jimmy Carter. Airport EMS crews did an initial checkup of him on scene to see if he was OK, and he was then transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is currently.

President Carter’s team issued this statement Tuesday afternoon:

“While on a flight to Cleveland, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter developed an upset stomach, and, upon arrival, was taken to Metro Health Hospital for observation. He is resting comfortably and is expected to resume his book tour this week.

Carter is obviously not a fan favorite here at Hot Air, but I’ll definitely say a prayer for his full recovery, and for his family.  If anything changes, I’ll update this post.
