Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) has put herself into overdrive this week in getting distance from President Barack Obama.  First she all but called him a liar when disputing his contention that the border is more secure now than at any time in the past 20 years, which Giffords noted was hardly a measure of success.  In this appearance on Fox News, Giffords implies that Obama has no real interest in the issue, and neither does his administration.  Giffords reminded Fox viewers that Obama has yet to actually come to the border and see the situation for himself, while her constituents have to live with the consequences of federal disinterest in border security.  Click on the image to watch RCP’s clip:

Well, who can blame Obama for not wanting to go to the border?  The federal government helpfully instructed people to stay out of American territory that the US apparently declines to defend.  Perhaps Obama just wants to show leadership by example.
