My friend Jamie Allman in St. Louis gets Sen. Claire McCaskill to at least acknowledge that the House and Senate should hold a conference committee in the open to reach a compromise on ObamaCare.  He even gets McCaskill to commit to saying she wants the Democrats to do that rather than convene in secret amongst themselves to shove something new down the throats of elected officials in both chambers of Congress.  But will she vote against whatever the backroom-deal process produces?  Will she stick to her guns when the rubber meets the road?

Three guesses, and the first two don’t count:

The only principle in play here is We won.  The Democrats had better enjoy that while they can, because at this rate it will expire in about ten months.
