Fox News tried to get Helen Jones-Kelley to speak on camera about the investigation into Joe Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, but didn’t have much luck. She ran into a fire station to avoid a Fox camera crew, and apparently called the police department. Fox got her off camera refusing to answer questions, but only after the police chief himself told Fox to back off:

Jones-Kelley referred Fox to the Inspector General, who is conducting an investigation into her actions regarding the probe. She can’t comment in the middle of the investigation, for the simple reason of self-preservation. Anything she says substantively about her actions can get used against her.

It is somewhat amusing, though, to see the journalistic ambush deployed so effectively against Jones-Kelley. We’ve seen plenty of it from news broadcasters like 60 Minutes for less worthy targets.

Megyn Kelly, Lis Wiehl, and Bill O’Reilly have a panel discussion about the legal implications of the probes into Wurzelbacher.  Kelly doesn’t think laws were broken, while Wiehl offers a novel but perhaps correct interpretation of “misuse of public funds”.
