Video: Chuck Norris and the NRA

Chuck Norris re-enters the electoral fray with a commercial for the National Rifle Association. It’s titled “An Outlaw’s Worst Nightmare,” and Norris certainly qualifies for that all by himself. He asks a good question for people to consider on November 4th:

Protect your rights on Election Day. Check the candidates’ records — and see who stood up for your families, and who protected the criminals.

Norris, for all his tough-guy persona, has a real warmth and approachability on camera. He can afford to seem affable; anyone with his skills doesn’t need to look or sound tough. That makes him a very effective spokesman for the NRA and for political candidates, and this ad is especially good at underscoring the need for voter consideration of Second Amendment principles.

If you want to see how committed Norris is to his rights of gun ownership and self-defense, check the sign behind him near the end of the commercial. It warns people that “We don’t dial 911”. Maybe they should have figured that more prominently in the ad.

Update: I wrote “call” instead of “dial”. Sorry, Chuck. Uh, Chuck, why are you swiveling your leg — [thud].
