Think this extended primary hasn’t damaged the Democrats? Think again, friends, and give a well-deserved hat tip to Rush Limbaugh and Operation Chaos. When asked about the potential for the supposed “dream ticket” of Hillary as Barack Obama’s VP, Democratic Party icon Ted Kennedy said he’d rather have someone a little … nobler?

Obama should choose a running mate who “is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people,” Kennedy said. “If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama — in the No. 2 spot as well, it’d be enormously helpful.”

Tommy Christopher calls this a “D move”, and the D doesn’t stand for Democrat. It does point out the bitterness that has clung to the Democrats in stronger and stronger waves as this process has ground to its conclusion.  How do you think Hillary backers will like this rather airy dismissal of Hillary’s leadership potential, especially the feminists that have passionately supported her?

The dream ticket doesn’t make much sense anyway, but not for the reason Kennedy gives.  What kind of “real leadership” has Obama himself ever shown in politics before running for President?  That criterion escaped Kennedy’s attention when he endorsed the freshman Senator without any legislative track record at all.
