If only the United Kingdom had a Second Amendment, the second English Civil War would now be on.
Well, probably not, since Piddington, Oxfordshire, is a village of only 350 people, so even the decrepit UK Army could take them on handily, but the point is: these citizens of England and the UK feel put upon enough to vote for independence from the United Kingdom.

The issue is exactly what you would expect: the Labour government is planning to settle somewhere between 1,250 and 3500 male Muslim migrants at a nearby decommissioned military base. A military base that was once used to protect the country from foreign invaders will become the barracks for the newcomers who are colonizing the country.

The villagers are, of course, being accused of racism because they fear that such a concentration of Muslim males in such close proximity to their quiet village will put them in danger; the problem with that argument is that it isn't prejudice that leads to that fear, but hard-won experience.

The government's answer was exactly what you would expect: tough luck. Our constituents in the larger cities don't want the illegal aliens near them anymore, so off to Oxfordshire they go.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he understood the village's "strength of feeling" but there needed to be fairness across the country.
"The only thing to do is to get the numbers down, the number of crossings down," he said. "And they are significantly down. They are now at a seven-year low.
"We also made a commitment to people to end the use of hotels to house refugees and asylum seekers, and that commitment needs to be honoured, and I think the vast majority of people say 'yeah, that really does need to proceed'.
"So this involves difficult difficult decisions. It's about fairness across the country. I'm not saying that only one part of the country or one group of communities should do all of the work."
Ironically, the residents of Oxfordshire (not necessarily Piddington itself, which is a mere fraction of the area) were all for mass migration before the reality hit home. Their representatives are lefties, but as is so often the case, a conservative is born when a liberal gets mugged by reality.

Piddington 2026: “Hang on a minute, you can’t bring these savages here! Surely they can go in the working class towns so we can carry on feeling virtuous whilst avoiding the left wing savage importations we voted for? What the hell is going on?!”
Fear not, though; the Labour government feels the residents' pain. In a couple of decades they will surely have a commission to investigate how the rape gang crisis exploded in the English countryside out of nowhere.
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said that reconsidering the MoD Bicester plan would not be fair.
"The alternative would be to ask communities who have already seen their local community quadruple in size to take more of the load - and I think that's deeply unfair," she said.
Nandy said Piddington was "not actually" unusual, adding: "In my constituency there are particular streets where that has happened to the community."
But she said the government was listening to the Piddington campaigners.
"I do really understand that when changes are made that affect your community it can be very distressing.
There are still do-gooders in the area who are appalled that their neighbors are worried that over a thousand military-aged Muslim illegal immigrants might present a danger, and they are ready to sacrifice their neighbors to the colonizers. But as you can see from the vote, it's not many.
"It's really upsetting - it's always been the most amazingly peaceful place to live and we've never experienced the level of overt racism that we’re witnessing"

As much as I sympathize with the residents of Piddington, I am struck by the fact that their vote leans more toward NIMBYism than toward embracing the larger point that the invasion itself is incompatible with maintaining England as England.
Absolutely incredible…

The problem is not just that the mass migration of Muslims is bad for tiny villages; the dispersal to the countryside, after all, is driven by the reality that the mass migration has been bad for the urban areas too.
It's bad for everybody, in fact.
Still, I have to admire the symbolism, even if the residents of Piddington haven't yet learned the lesson our Founders did 250 years ago.
Peak White liberalism. Vote LibDem, get what you vote for? But this is why Reform are surging, because the UK government refuses to listen. #Piddington #Oxfordshire #Labour @IamSean90 @gforemanBCP @piersmorgan @Timcast https://t.co/9hFwSGob62

The media, being the media, has found those 10 voters who want the migrants to swarm in, and is playing this all up as an explosion of racism, because nobody can have any rational concerns about the wonderful plan to just dump this many young men from Sharia countries into a tiny village.

The conflict is a classic example of the triumph of elite values over common sense, or to put it in the common parlance, suicidal empathy.
