Canada Recruiting America's Worst Professors; Best Trade Deal Ever

Canada came SO close to getting a sane Prime Minister in 2025, but with Justin Trudeau's resignation and Mark Carney's installation, the Liberals salvaged their political fortunes and are now driving Canada into the ground.

Everybody right now is focusing, rightly, on the trade war between the United States and Canada, and the absolutely bizarre cozying up to Communist China. Carney is talking about what amounts to a military alliance with the Chinese of all countries.

But while those are the biggest of the bizarre moves that Carney is making, there is a little-noticed move that in some ways tells you just how insane the Carney government is, and why exactly they are so.

Stay with me, because you may think I am focusing on a small issue, but I have a reason for pointing here:

The Trump administration’s crackdown on post-secondary research funding is sending academic talent into this country.

Canada is recruiting dozens of U.S. researchers. They’ll get federal funding for eight years.

Researcher (on climate work):
…adaptation, severe storms and equity.

Narration / official:
Health [research grants] were cut in 2025, and Canadian officials say the new chairs will help fill the gap.

Narration:
At UBC, John Wakefield will continue his work…

Jon Wakefield (statistician, University of Washington → UBC):
Canada has a more positive and moralistic attitude toward these things, you know, and other places quite close by don’t.

You've got that right. Trump is pursuing policies that are clearing out at least some of the worst and most woke professors in our universities, and Canada sees this as an opportunity to snap up our best and brightest.

You know, the equity people. The trans professors who will explain how chopping off genitals makes children happy. Communist revolutionaries who will Queer the world. The climate change fanatics.

The "moralists" who have turned our universities into disaster zones of communist revolutionaries.

Canada is spending $500 million to recruit and fund these 48 professors, giving them a million dollars a year to promote their insanity. Carney and company consider this a great opportunity to seize the lead in science and academia.

Not that there is any evidence that this move will help. Quite the opposite. If you look at the evidence, the more woke a professor or scientist, the worse they are. DEI is a disaster, as is the focus on equity.

What makes this so symbolic to me is that it explains why Canada is making moves that appear positively insane to people like you and me. The country is run by people who actually believe this stuff, and view poaching our very worst academics as a great coup.

China, I'm sure, really is thrilled to work with Canada, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them kick in some dough to help make this a permanent feature of Canada's recruitment strategy. What could be more destructive to a modern economy than embracing Queer communism, DEI, and replacing actual science with Indigenous Queer Science done by two-spirit and trans professors?

On the one hand, the economic and military policies that make the headlines will be massively consequential in the near term, but they are at least partially reversible if a more rational government comes to power.

Importing professors like this will have a darker, longer-term impact on Canadian society, hollowing out the cultural and scientific foundations of a modern Western economy.

It's supercharging and accelerating the "Long March Through the Institutions," with government and policy pushing the most damaging cultural poison into society's bloodstream.

Even liberal-leaning academics of the old school are shocked by how dramatically the cultural elite has embraced these policies. It is a direct attack on the foundations of our education system, and it is official government policy.

Of course, at least in the short term, this is good for America, and perhaps we should kick in a few hundred million to help Canada recruit our worst and stupidest.
