During the Biden administration, Xavier Becerra was known among his colleagues as the second-most brain-dead person at the cabinet table.
We all know which person at the table actually flatlined the EEG, but aside from him, Becerra was the dumbest.

A senior Biden-Harris administration alum just KNEECAPPED Xavier Becerra after the California gubernatorial debate, saying that there is wide Cabinet Secretary-level agreement that he was "not an effective HHS Secretary."
Xochitl Hinojosa, a Biden DOJ and DNC alum: "After working in Joe Biden's administration, I do not trust Xavier Becerra [to stand up to Donald Trump].
Hinojosa continues: "When I saw him in the administration and I think a lot of people did and people understand this. It's he was not effective in governing. And I think that a lot of people in the Biden administration are talking about this because they realize that he was not an effective HHS Secretary. And if you ask any cabinet secretary, they would tell you the same thing. And so I think that there is a I think people recognize this and I think this is why Tom Steyer has gone to the top."
CNN's Abby Phillip confirms: "This is that's not this is not the first time that I've heard that, right? So what Xochi's talking about is a real thing.
Now you know why Becerra was the Organized Crime Democrats' choice for gubernatorial candidate: like Walz and Biden, he isn't smart enough to do things much beyond what he is told to do, so he is easy to manage as they scam the state. Let him have a few pet projects while he plays with blocks in the corner, and the adults in the room can loot the treasury without much interference.
Still, however dumb Becerra is, there is evidence that he can at least tie his shoes without help. It may even have been caught on camera, although it is possible that he was just adjusting Velcro straps on his shoes; the resolution of the shot wasn't good enough to be sure.
Which means he is at least smart enough to engage in a cover-up if he was told to, and James Comer suspects he did.
Here's the contradiction at the center of this: Fauci told Congress in June 2024 that "The CDC was responsible for those kinds of guidelines to schools, not me." His own diary includes a 2020 entry where he says he "convinced" NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio "based on what I was saying…

FAUCI FALLOUT: House Oversight Chairman James Comer is accusing former Biden HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra of potentially hiding Fauci's COVID-era diary and cellphone from Congress — documents that contained references to "COVID-19," "gain-of-function," and "Wuhan" that Republicans specifically requested in November 2023.
Comer says Becerra either intentionally withheld the materials or failed to conduct an adequate search. The diary, which current HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. turned over to Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson earlier this year, spans over 1,000 pages and includes entries where Fauci discussed his influence over school closures — something he previously denied under oath.
Becerra, now running for governor of California, has until Sept. 2 to answer whether he knew about the diary, why it wasn't produced, and whether any Biden officials pressured him to withhold it.
Here's the contradiction at the center of this: Fauci told Congress in June 2024 that "The CDC was responsible for those kinds of guidelines to schools, not me." His own diary includes a 2020 entry where he says he "convinced" NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio "based on what I was saying publicly and my conversation tonight to close the NYC schools."
You see, that Fauci diary that the media has been so assiduous in ignoring was discovered on HHS servers, having been deleted by Fauci as he went out the door, and guess who was in charge of HHS when it happened?
Xavier Becerra, who also presided over the biggest human trafficking operation in modern history, shipping hundreds of thousands of migrant children off to live with "guardians" who were completely unvetted. Becerra is a very bad man as well as being very stupid.
Congress had subpoenaed all documents related to COVID, and that diary was most certainly responsive to that demand. It would not have been optional to hand it over, but somehow it never appeared until RFK, Jr. had computer forensics experts retrieve it.
Comer's letter to Becerra demands answers to pointed questions: Did he know the diary existed? Why wasn't it included in the original document production? And did any Biden administration officials pressure him to withhold materials from the November 2023 request?

Now it's possible that Becerra could play the same card that Biden did with Robert Hur, should he face an investigation into whether he broke the law. After a series of interviews, it's quite plausible that an investigator could conclude that a jury might reasonably believe he is a nice man with a bad memory and low IQ, and therefore acquit him of crimes he most obviously committed.
Especially since those crimes would have taken place in Washington, D.C., where a jury is made up of bureaucrats who know how to play dumb and forgetful when it suits them.
On the other hand this is cringe-inducingly bad from Becerra pic.twitter.com/sjse6xpRqm

But Becerra has enough cunning, if not native wit, to understand how to massage his own image and knows that shaping a narrative is the key to success in politics. It's hard to believe that he wouldn't have had a hand in covering up unflattering information.
There is no doubt that California voters wouldn't care if old Xavier personally had a hand in designing and releasing COVID, of course, and they would be absolutely fine with his merely covering up the wrongdoings of another Democrat. They would expect it, and wonder how much he was able to extort from Fauci for the effort.
These people keep voting for obvious frauds like Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris, after all, and still hope that their grandchildren may one day be able to take a ride from Bakersfield to Fresno on the shiny high-speed rail line that is feeding so many consultants these days.
Newsom, on his way out the door, is kneecapping attempts to put more oversight on the project because, well, oversight might reduce the grift.
Now Gov. Gavin Newsom is threatening to veto a bill containing what the project's independent watchdog calls "absolutely essential" tools for holding the High-Speed Rail Authority accountable, according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions between the administration and the Legislature.
CBS California Investigates recently exposed costly missed train-procurement deadlines and reported that the project could run out of money as soon as 2027 without new financing.
To provide oversight, the state created an independent watchdog in 2023: an inspector general with the power to audit contracts, investigate fraud and flag problems before they turn into bigger, more expensive ones.
That watchdog is Ben Belnap. He was appointed by Newsom. He says the state has not given him all the tools he needs to fully do the job.
A bill meant to empower the office, Assembly Bill 1608, authored by Assemblymember Lori Wilson, has been moving through the Legislature all year. It cleared the Senate Appropriations Committee last week and is two floor votes away from passing as written.
Now, the governor's office is threatening to veto it, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the discussions, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the negotiations
No doubt that's intended to be a gift to Becerra and Newsom's partners in crime; the last thing Newsom needs is for the grift to end before he completes his likely-failed run for president.
Unfortunately, Comer won't be able to get any answers about Becerra's likely role in any cover-up of COVID-related matters before the November gubernatorial election that Becerra is likely to win. Unless Becerra is so stupid that he blurts out that he ordered the destruction of the diary himself, he will escape any consequences, just as he has for helping out the human traffickers who used unaccompanied minors as sex and labor slaves under the Biden administration.
It's the way of the world; the more corrupt the Democrats are, the more likely they are to skate. That's because their corruption benefits a large and powerful group of people, while minor peccadillos only benefit the perpetrator.
Think of government as similar to the Mob, and you will get it: commit crimes that benefit the family, and you are golden; commit crimes, even minor ones, that benefit only yourself or a buddy or two, and you face the consequences.
Becerra may be stupid, but you can be stupid and thrive if you are cunning enough. You only need to know a few important things, and the system will take care of you. In fact, the bosses at the top prize your stupidity because it keeps you in line.
