Dems Doing an About Face on Body Cameras?

A funny thing happened in my X feed lately.

Liberals are starting to worry that they made a big oopsie when they demanded that law enforcement officers wear body cameras.

For years, liberals campaigned for the police to wear body cameras, presuming that the horror stories of uniformed stormtroopers shooting innocents with abandon must be true despite vast amounts of evidence that the use of deadly force is rarely abused. Still, Democrats have a vastly inflated sense of injustice—one that has been carefully created over the years by the grievance industrial complex—and their success in promoting body cameras has come back to bite them in the butt many a time.

Body cams are actually a good idea, both because it helps root out actual abusers of power, which should ALWAYS be a major goal in a civilized society, and because it exposes just how out of control many criminals actually are. Time and again we see criminals portrayed as peaceful "victims" exposed as deranged and violent, and it is healthy for the public to understand what law enforcement must face every day.

When the Democrats got all high and mighty about ICE needing to wear body cameras, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem gleefully agreed and is rolling them out as fast as possible.

There is a reason for that, of course: almost nobody in the public grasps how violent and obstructive the "mostly peaceful protests" really are. And, as importantly, how many hoaxes are created by Pravda and the activists to make law enforcement look like mindless killers.

The left has no problem at all inventing hoaxes and manipulating images, and digitally-stamped body camera footage can be useful in ferreting out the truth.

In the wake of the Alex Pretti and Renee Good shootings, with alternative footage putting damaging context around the "facts" and curated videos put out by the left, Democrats are suddenly arguing that you can't trust body cameras and should stick to that provided by the activists.

Suddenly, they are worried that body cameras might expose criminals to prosecution, or that the footage will be used as "propaganda" by the government (that's rich, given what propaganda is put out by the anti-ICE crowd).

It's as predictable as the rain in Spain falling mainly on the plains, which is just another way of saying that arguments are used solely for their convenience to The Narrative™ and not at all on their having any validity. (The rain in Spain does NOT fall mainly on the plains, it turns out, but it sounded good in the song, and that is all that mattered.)

No doubt body cameras will catch some law enforcement officers abusing power, or at least losing their tempers, but the overwhelming evidence shows that body cams make the police look much better than Pravda and activists portray them to be.

So now? Suddenly, they are a danger.
