You DO Realize That Democrats Will Likely Still Win in Minnesota, Right?

I hope I am wrong, but fear that I am right.

Chances are quite good that the next governor of Minnesota will be a Democrat, and if he is not indicted, Keith Ellison may retain his post as the Attorney General.

Here's why I could be wrong: despite its reputation, Minnesota does elect Republicans in districts outside the Twin Cities, and the Republicans have done...OK, I guess...in what we call "greater Minnesota," and what people outside our bubble would call rural Minnesota.

Minnesota legislative elections can be won by Republicans because much of the Democratic margin in statewide elections is in the urban core, which produces what political people call an "overvote," which the number of votes that exceeds the margin of victory in any election. In a Democratic district where 90% vote for Democrats, the overvote is 40% or so. That vote doesn't matter in a local election, but it provides the margin of victory in a statewide election, where votes are counted statewide.

The fact is that the Democrats have had a lock on majorities in the Twin Cities, and have been electing not just liberals but socialists in the urban core. Democrats will get those votes even if a mass murderer were on the ticket, and even if Democrats failed to turn out to vote, the vote counters will ensure that they "voted" anyway.

It has been 24 years since a Republican has won statewide office in Minnesota, all the way back in 2006, when Tim Pawlenty won the governorship in a 3-way race.

There are many reasons for the lock Democrats have on Minnesota politics at the statewide level, and one of them is surely that they control the voting and ballot counting in large swaths of the state. Minnesotans have a rather charming faith in the cleanliness of our government, entirely based on a conceit that we are better than everybody else, and a bizarre notion that any election that a Democrat wins is automatically clean as a whistle.

The margin of victory in statewide elections is usually provided by AWFLs, who used to be known as "soccer moms" before they all started watching The View and voting Democrat all the time. And I expect that they will dutifully vote for Democrats come November.

I am not certain that the election of Jay Jones and its implications have yet been fully appreciated by Republicans. His election proves that Democratic voters are so brainwashed that they will come out in droves for just about any Democratic Party candidate, no matter how degenerate. A Democrat can unironically wish for the death of children and still get the enthusiastic vote of the electorate.

What's a little fraud compared to murder?

Republicans can only win nationwide or statewide elections if they secure enough votes to exceed what Hugh Hewitt calls the "margin of fraud." For a variety of reasons, there is a limit to how much fraud can get past the voters, although that limit has grown over the years.

Joe Biden got 81 million votes. Riiiiiggggtttt. Sure, he did. After all, he was much more popular than Obama.

In 2023, Tim Walz signed into MN law a voting “innovation” so vulnerable to fraud, it’s hard to imagine the bill had any other intent.

Walz legalized ONE-DAY ONLY early voting “pop-up” sites,

with same-day registration,

no photo ID required,

and ballots immediately processed.

And like that… they’re gone. Tim Walz and MN Democrats invented the Keyser Soze early-voting site.

Eleven of them have appeared throughout Minneapolis since October 22nd.

It is true that the scale of the fraud here is so breathtaking that enough AWFLs will flake off and make winning difficult or impossible for a Democrat, but I am skeptical. It will take a massive effort by the Republicans to overcome the margin of fraud and the commitment to aborting babies among AWFLs.

If Amy Klobuchar is, indeed, the Democratic Party candidate for governor, she will likely win. It's not certain, and we have a couple of really good Republican candidates who might have a chance if the national Democrats commit to helping.

But the smart money says that the Democrats will maintain their lock on the statewide offices. Our Secretary of State is a lefty Democrat with an undeserved reputation for impeccable integrity, and a willingness to look the other way and enable sketchy voting practices.

Perhaps I am too cynical, and the voters of Minnesota are fed up.

But then I look at Virginia and sigh. I fear not.
