One of the most striking, if not the most common, reactions on the left to Charlie Kirk's assassination is the attacks on Erika Kirk for picking up Charlie's torch and continuing down the road he has been walking.
It is true that Erika is no shrinking violet, and that she hasn't backed down in the face of violence. Instead, she has doubled down on Charlie's mission and will take over Turning Point USA, vowing to lead the movement.
Because our staff loves the effect. They see it as one of our event signatures. And most importantly, Charlie loved it. We do not grieve the way the world grieves. We refuse to let the evil that killed Charlie rob us of our joy in remembering his incredible life and legacy. https://t.co/hAxzm8AQMU

In other words, she refused to be silenced by an assassin, and for this, she is being criticized and accused of cynically using her husband's death for political and financial gain.

“If you are a happy wife to a terrible person, then you're probably also terrible"
These people are pure evil.

It really is remarkable the depths to which some people will go. I have seen many people blame Charlie for his assassination, even saying that he could have avoided it by giving in to the mob. If only he would have shut up he would be alive. Others blame President Trump; had he lost, the left would have been appeased. Now they must kill us to win.
Some fraction of the criticism is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of Kirk's and other conservative visions of marriage and family. They seem to believe that we only want women barefoot and pregnant. That certainly wasn't Erika Kirk, who has never been a shrinking violet.
If feminists had any idea what they actually were talking about, Erika Kirk would be the most revered woman in the entire feminist movement.

Erika owns multiple brands, was independently successful before she ever met her husband, graduated university and went even further in her education.
At the same time, she became a committed to God and her husband while not ever giving up her career or her successes.
In the hardest moment of her life, she chose to forgive her husband’s killer publicly in front of the world and gave a speech to the entire world proclaiming the virtues of a healthy marriage where the husband and wife become one flesh.
She is the strongest woman I’ve ever seen.
Modern, Third-Wave Feminism is a completely backwards movement.
True female empowerment is Erika Kirk.
Both Charlie and Erika believed in family first, just as Turning Point USA is first and foremost an evangelical movement, and only a political movement by extension.
All true. Notice that politics are not on the list. That said, politics can be necessary to secure the freedoms to accomplish these things. https://t.co/KzhTJ53qWL

Erika is, by all accounts, more conservative than Charlie was. His fight was her fight. She is not Lady Macbeth, as the left seems to want to portray her, but a spiritual warrior.
That wasn't a memorial, that was just an excuse to have a political rally. You don't have pyrotechnics at a memorial when the deceased's wife comes out to give a eulogy like it's a half-time show. https://t.co/2Qjpvch8Re

I didn't know Charlie, and I don't know Erika. I am both too old and don't move in those circles. I am in the peanut gallery, and I am more than fine with that.
However, our mission remains largely the same: to defend family, faith, and freedom.

Ironically, the attacks on Erika Kirk during her time of grief are 100% motivated by politics. Her critics are projecting, not really commenting on her.
I mostly stayed off this site over the weekend because I knew it’d be toxic (from one side), but a reminder that a wife whose husband was murdered is under no obligation to grieve the way you demand.

She’s certainly under no obligation to surrender his life’s work to a killer.
We all sometimes project, but the left has turned it into an art form, at least if you recognize Brutalism as a form of architectural art.
They are not looking into a darkness hiding in Erika Kirk's soul, but showing us the darkness within their own.
