Peak Illinois Crime Prevention

No matter how absurd you think a work of fiction might be, reality will slap you across the face to remind you that liberals can be more absurd than any writer's imagination.

Illinois, which is enraptured by the idea that the best way to prevent crime is to quit counting the instances and to hire thugs to cosplay "violence preventers," gives us a perfect example:

The "Peacekeepers" program, run through an NGO that is funded by the government, sends out "violence preventers" to keep Chicagoans safe.

How's that working out for you, Brandon Johnson and J.B. Pritzker?

To give you an idea of just how effective this program is, Governor Pritzker did a photo op with the Peacekeepers, giving us this wonderful photo of the governor with a felon with four outstanding warrants, including one in Illinois.

But wait! There's more!

Not long after that touching bit of pathos in which Pritzker congratulated the man for being a "Peacekeeper," he committed a massive robbery and, while escaping, killed an innocent man

A 40-year-old man was killed in a crash in Chicago on his way to work last week after a group of robbers sped away from a smash-and-grab heist at a Louis Vuitton store on Michigan Avenue. One of the seven suspects charged in connection with the crimes was a community “peacekeeper” and posed for a photo with Illinois Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker just one week before the storefront raid.

Kellen McMiller, 35, is now facing a list of charges that include murder, burglary, and felony theft, Fox 32 Chicago reported. McMiller, who recently posed with Pritzker while wearing his “peacekeeper” uniform, also has outstanding warrants in four states, including Illinois, Florida, Indiana, and Wisconsin, CWB Chicago reported. Fox 32 also reported that McMiller was a “peacekeeper,” an individual involved in violence-prevention work, and had “at least four fugitive warrants, according to authorities.”

Footage of the crime reportedly showed the suspects backing a pickup truck through the store windows. The suspects then stole around $700,000 in merchandise, according to court records. Dejuan Wingard, the 30-year-old man who was allegedly behind the wheel of the getaway car, was driving nearly 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the vehicle that 40-year-old Mark Arceta was driving.

Pritzker met with “peacekeepers” in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago two weeks ago as he continues to rail against the Trump administration’s desires to send in federal agents and National Guard troops to address violent crime in the city. Pritzker claimed that the “peacekeepers” are “doing the hard work” of preventing violent crime, adding that “troops on the ground” would hinder that effort.

I mean, c'mon. Pritzker points to McMiller as a great example of why Chicago is better off without Trump getting in the way of violence reduction in Illinois, and that same man goes out and kills somebody in a robbery that netted almost a million dollars.

Yep, Chicago needs no help getting crime under control. It has "peacekeepers!" Ed just wrote about how Brandon Johnson sees law enforcement, and it is scary.

You can't make this up, as they say

Prosecutors said McMiller was one of five burglars in the Kia. He remained hospitalized yesterday for injuries from the crash.

Just six days earlier, McMiller and Pritzker posed side-by-side for a picture as the governor met with “peacekeepers” in Englewood. In a press release issued later that day, the governor’s office called the group “‘trusted messengers’ in the community.”

“It’s folks like these that we need more of doing the hard work of community violence prevention,” Pritzker said on Facebook, “not troops on the ground to undermine efforts fighting crime.”

That press release also included a photo of McMiller posing with Pritzker, but it was quickly removed after officials learned that he was being charged in connection with Arceta’s death. Despite its removal, the image remained accessible on Google until earlier this week.

Read that again--Pritzker's solution to crime prevention is to keep the National Guard out and hire felons to keep the peace.

You can't make this up.

It is impossible to overstate how destructive the left is to society. They align themselves with gang members, celebrate rioting in the streets, cheer on assassinations, and hire felons who go on to murder people to keep the peace.

This is who they are.

Pritzker, by the way, is going to run for president in the next election cycle.

You can't make this up.
