NPR President: Defunding NPR Was Racist

NPR's audience is 90% white and skews female, so the only possible reason that Republicans in Congress and Donald Trump would want to defund the network is...racism.

Yep, let's go with that.

NPR, which until yesterday gaslit us into believing that federal funding is a tiny sliver hardly worth mentioning, now is darkly warning that stations will be closing down because they can't afford to run without taxpayer dollars.

What will all those "non-white" voices do without NPR?

We shouldn't be surprised that Maher is at loose ends, having lost a billion dollars in free money. To be honest, I would be too, and unlike Maher, I would be looking for another job because the board of any other corporation would have fired me for such a blunder.

But reality is not a factor when it comes to NPR--and Maher explained why when describing her approach to reality when she was in charge of Wikipedia.

That is as good a ten-second explanation of Critical Theory as any I can imagine. It captures the essence: truth is an obstacle to social change, so dispense with it.

Self-awareness is not something at which members of our elite excel. When defending illegal immigration, they go into long screeds about how they need serfs to do their gardening and wipe their asses, and when defending their elite media subsidies, they ludicrously claim that poor people in the sticks can't get weather warnings without state-subsidized propaganda outlets.

Maher's X feed was one long diary about her guilt over being white. She explained how much she loved horses, but worried that they are not common in black spaces. Her reason for not leaving the country when Trump won was that she would be exercising her white cisgender privilege.

Norm McDonald or Titania McGrath might have written her posts, they read so much like parody.

No doubt there are some marginal stations that won't survive the funding purge, although the same could be said of many commercial radio stations that have a hard time competing with podcasts and streaming services. I fail to see how the public should be forced to subsidize a service run by people who hate them and spend countless hours telling them so.

I'm sure Maher thinks that NPR has been doing a fine job keeping Americans in the know--just not about the truth, since reverence for truth gets in the way of the spiritual truth that only the transnational elite truly understand.

The liberal elite have long seen American taxpayers as their personal piggy banks in much the same way that English lords saw the serfs as their personal labor force. Our job is to make money for them, and theirs is to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Taxpayers are cash cows to be milked to fund their preferred NGOs, provide multi-million dollar sinecures for elites who rise to the top, and when they get uppity, they can be replaced with low-wage illegal aliens who will do the yard work for Maher and her ilk.

Does Maher really think that the loss of funding for NPR is a blow to the black and Latinx communities? Perhaps she does, in the way she believes everything she says. As long as you dispense reverence for the truth--it only gets in the way--you can believe anything you want to.
