The world is healing, one MAGA snub at a time.
During the first Trump administration, the White House was often stymied by trying to follow rules and norms that were designed with the purpose of buttressing the power of an establishment with which it was at war.
The second Trump administration has put its focus on rewriting those rules whenever and wherever it can.
Trump's most powerful opponent since he rode that big, beautiful escalator down into the dragon's den has been the Pravda Media, and while he battled them well during his first term, he was ultimately sent packing from the White House and pummeled mercilessly for four years.
HAPPENING NOW: WH PRESS SEC LEAVITT IGNORES ‘JOURNALISTS’ WHO PUT PRONOUNS IN BIO
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 10, 2025
On April 10, 2025, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Washington Post she ignores reporters with pronouns in their email signatures, saying, “Any reporter who chooses to put… pic.twitter.com/A0svu0n8EZ
Having retaken the White House after having learned a thing or three, Trump and his team are rewriting the rules and norms to suit their taste. Every time you hear a liberal simper about "norms," they aren't entirely wrong. Trump IS dispensing with the longstanding norms of Washington because it is those norms that have cemented the left's power for decades.
The pronoun snub is one obvious example of their strategy to weed out the most ridiculous and hostile among their enemies. Pronouns in one's bio are about as reliable an indicator of one being a sneering, irrational leftist agitator as having blue hair and tons of piercings. It may not be as in-your-face as an Antifa alphabet activist's choice of attire and grooming, but it is about as reliable an indicator of political leanings and attitudes.
Just as you know with 90% certainty that Republicans occupy a house with a flag displayed, you can feel confident that a person with pronouns in their bio is a lefty activist.
Leavitt is sending a clear signal by ignoring these reporters. You hate us, and we hate you. We see you, we know you, and we will ignore you.
The press is furious because this violates the norms they so carefully built up to promote leftism. They all sat silently when Obama literally tapped the phone of Fox News reporter James Rosen, but they are now all outraged that some radical lefty isn't getting a tongue bath from Karoline Leavitt from the White House podium.
The White House will ignore reporters whose emails contain gender pronouns in the signature, a spokesperson confirmed to Axios on Wednesday.
The big picture: The move is a part of the Trump administration's pattern of trying to control the press — blocking AP reporters from the White House, taking over press pool coverage, removing outlets from their Pentagon workspaces and planning to take over the briefing room seating chart.
- Neutral pronouns have been used for centuries but have gotten increasing public attention as LGBTQ+ rights — and attacks on them — have been a focus of debates in U.S. politics, schools and businesses, per Axios' Russell Contreras.
Driving the news: "As a matter of policy, we do not respond to reporters with pronouns in their bios," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the New York Times, which was first to report the story.
- Asked Wednesday if that was now official policy, spokesperson Harrison Fields told Axios in an email: "FACTS!"
Reporters have a right to print anything they want. All of us do, thank God, due to the First Amendment. But that doesn't mean they have a right to grab the spotlight in the White House and ask stupid questions that amount to "When did you quit beating your wife?"
The New York Times and The Washington Post led a witch hunt based on the Steele Dossier and proudly accepted the Pulitzer Prize for printing lie after lie after lie. They conspired to take down a president. That was their right under the Constitution, although we can argue about their conspiring with intelligence community officials who really were breaking the law.
Why should the Trump White House treat them with respect? Because "norms?"
Pronouns in bios are not the worst sin in the world--committing hoax after hoax after hoax is much worse--but they are a reliable indicator of being the sort of "journalist" who embraces lies as a living.
So screw them. They can sit there and write whatever drivel they want, but they don't get the same attention as people who are at least a bit less insane.
Reporters these days keep claiming they have no political bias, which is as credible as Baghdad Bob's daily commentary during the Gulf War. We know it, they know it, and the public knows it.
So, let's quit pretending. These journalists get their rights, but not any respect, as it should be.
