ABC's piece begins by informing us that without USAID, women and children will starve, casually ignoring the fact that its primary function seems to be funding a huge network of left-wing activist groups, outside consultants, censorship, Ukrainian oligarchs (and Hunter Biden), the EcoHealth Alliance, Bill Krystol types (yes, USAID funds Bill Kristol's NGO!), and the Deep State.

As much as I weep for the drag shows we sponsor abroad, the DEI training, the spreading of alphabet ideology, and the funding of coups in other countries, I have to admit that it bothers me a little bit that the first impulse of the bureaucrats was to bar the entry of DOGE employees and then start hiding the evidence.

The propaganda campaign to save USAID is about as intense as you can find, but the irony is that foreign aid is one of the least popular forms of government funding. And since so much of it is tied up in funding the invasion of illegal immigrants into the United States, this is a two-fer: Democrats are defending foreign aid and the illegal alien invasion.

Not a winner of an issue, but they have to fight the battle. USAID is their piggy bank. Those billions of dollars have to come from somewhere, and the foreign aid budget appears to be the biggest source.
