Maddening Murderous Marxist Momementum

The murder of Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare, has reminded us of just how morally bankrupt the progressive movement really is.

Progressives have always advertised their ideology as a movement to make society more just, humane, and respectful of human rights.

The first truly leftist movement--in fact, the origin of the term "left-wing"--came during the French Revolution. It famously gave us the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, spelling out the principles that were supposed to be embodied in the First French Republic. It was the preamble to the Constitution that was forever suspended during the Republic because, well, the way to utopia was through murdering everybody who didn't fit into it.

In other words, leftism is about spouting heady-sounding utopian ideas while murdering all your political enemies. Every leftist movement since has been essentially the same: grand-sounding principles justifying the murder and imprisonment of the enemies of the people.

Thompson's murder was most likely the product of a psychotic break, but the left's embrace of it as an act of justice is turning into a potential movement that is gaining momentum and could easily turn into a crime wave.

Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Taylor Lorenz, and other leftist icons have ridden a line between "condemning" the actual murder and justifying it as an expression of a legitimate gripe people have with CEOs of companies who "harm" people.

As disgusting as the "it was wrong, but..." sentiments coming from the top of the progressive movement, the people they influence are focused on the underlying message and idolizing Mangione in the way that leftists always idolize the violent members of their leftist cults.

Mangione has become a hero figure on the left side of the aisle, turning him into a cultural phenom. Mangione's derangement

Mangione is a sex symbol for some--I have seen political podcasters discuss how sexy he is. He is, for some gay leftists, an object of lust. The same, obviously, for leftist women who find him a hunk.

Others, though, see him as a role model. At least a role model for others to follow. Most of the people calling for the murder of CEOs are unlikely to have the stones to practice what they preach, but they are proud enough about their commitment to the cause that they post hit lists online and hope that somebody more "courageous" will follow through.

People who will loudly decry Donald Trump and MAGA followers as violent fascists because their criticism of lefty policies or politicians inspire "stochastic terrorism" loudly embrace literal terrorism as soon as it arises. Whether it is Hamas, BLM, or murderers who shoot people in the back, their true love is political violence.

Leftists famously love Che, who celebrated revolutionary violence and the murder of innocents, and nothing gets their blood flowing so much as a riot, a terrorist attack on "colonizers," or the occupation of some building that has nothing to do with their cause, but associated with Western society.

Don't be surprised if there is a spate of attempted assassinations. Anticapitalism is in, and the cultural trends are moving decisively against the left.

The frustration of the left has little to do with the specifics of any particular policy and certainly not the practices of any of the companies whose CEOs will be targeted. It is at the loss of cultural influence and relevance. Leftists will strike out to deal with a growing anger at the culture's decreasing tolerance of their insane brand of politics.

The fact that we are still talking about this tells me that we will see more events like this, although it will be harder to get to any particular CEO as companies will tighten security around their top people.

United Healthcare is based here in the Twin Cities, and at least one of its buildings has turned into an armed camp for the moment.

Political violence isn't a force for good, but it is a force for something: a more fearful and divided society. This is always the result of the left's actions in the service of utopia.
