A Short Final Word

Ed had to take a bit of time off today, so I decided to drop a "Final Word" post here.

I was inspired to do so after seeing this funny video a podcaster put together featuring some of the dumbest pre-election predictions made by smug, overconfident Democrats.

What is striking about these is not so much their stupidity--if being wrong were a sport, we'd all excel at it--as their smug condescension. They not only believe they are right, but as with all leftists, they think you are too stupid to see how right they are.

Smugness seems to be the common thread among leftists these days, although perhaps anger is another unifying principle.

Smugly angry? Is that a thing?

Jerks come in all shapes and sizes, of course, but it seems like being a jerk is a necessary qualification for rising up into the Democratic Party elite.

"We are educated!" "We are experts!"

"Call me DR. Jill!"

There is nothing like confidence married to total ignorance. As long as power is not added to the mix, we can live with it and even laugh uncomfortably. Add in power, prestige, or influence, and it is one of the most destructive forces in the world.

You know, people like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, academics, media figures...you get the idea.

Smug, arrogant, ignorant, and powerful. It's a horrible combination, and one that seems to characterize the transnational elite.

As they look down on us from their perches of power they sneer.

That's one of the many reasons why Trump's victory was delightful.
