Watch Midwit 'Journalists' Analyze the Election

Let's do a mental health and self-awareness check on the Pravda media.

They aren't doing well at all, and I am not referring to the people who have proven to be literally insane like Joy Reid. I am talking about the people who think of themselves as serious journalists with their fingers on the pulse of American politics.

"An entire right-wing media ecosystem that doesn't exist on the left." They are so un-self-aware that they do not understand that THEY are the left-wing media ecosystem and control 90% of the information flow in this country.

The problem is no a right-wing media ecosystem--Joe Rogan, for instance, is not Right-wing at all, and most of the podcasts I watch or listen to aren't either. Many of them lean right or have balanced panels of sand Republicans and Democrats because I have no desire to watch Sean Hannity tell me what he thinks--I already know exactly what he thinks and learn nothing interesting. I want to hear diverse voices.

The truth is that most of our big media figures are midwits. They have the mental capacity to regurgitate what they are told or what they hear in their small bubbles, but they don't have the mental capacity or curiosity to think independently and distinguish between the truth and the hoaxes they promote.

There are exceptions, and they are not stupid but evil. They create the hoaxes and propagate them through their colleagues, who in turn become hysterical in their fear and rage.

It is true that individually many Americans are no smarter than the journalists, or at least don't have the time to do the deep dives it takes to sort out the bulls**t from the reality. But most people are also guided by common sense and listen to a larger range of views than the average midwit who thinks of himself as smarter than everybody else.

It's the wisdom of crowds in action.

We put ordinary people on juries because of this talent and openness. If you substituted a panel of experts for a jury made up of ordinary people 9 times out of 10, you will get a saner outcome. People who don't believe they already know everything are much more inclined to listen and evaluate rather than regurgitate what some credentialed person thinks.

This is why the college-educated have become, on balance, a cancer on the American psyche. It's not that education is inherently bad--I love liberal education and think a properly designed and run academia is essential to the health and success of our society.

But the current education system exists to produce nothing but midwits, taking even intelligent people and molding them into nearly mindless drones who repeat what they are told.

Intelligent, educated ideological drones are a dime a dozen in the Pravda media. They (unconsciously, usually) take their cues from the "experts" above them and sell the BS to the overeducated in the wild.

Trump called the media the "enemy of the people," and at the time, I (along with many others) scoffed. In this case, as with many others, Trump turned out to be right.

Few of these midwits are smart enough to see why their institutions are failing. Their diagnosis is that evil propagandists are drawing away the ordinary people in society. A few are because there are grifters and evil propagandists on the Right. But the vast majority are tired of being lectured to by the midwits and see the puppet masters in the background.

We are lucky that this middling class of intellectuals is so overconfident and blind to its failings. Otherwise, they might retool and become even more dangerous.
