Melania Trump: 'There Is Definitely More to This Story'

Melania Trump is saying the (all too quiet) part out loud: nobody in the mainstream media or in positions of power are talking about the assassination attempt on Trump's life, and that is suspicious.

It's been two months since that fateful day in July when an assassin took the life of Corey Comperatore and wounded three others, including the once and future President of the United States.

Nothing adds up, including the number of days we were told it would take to release a report on what went so badly wrong with the Secret Service's protection of the former president. We were told it would take 60 days to complete a report, and we are on day 59 and have been provided almost no evidence by the Secret Service or Alejandro Mayorkas' Department of Homeland Security.

The mainstream media is remarkably incurious. The Secret Service has done little but stonewall, refusing to share basic information with the public. If it weren't for a few brave Republicans in Congress and some whistleblowers digging into what happened, the public would know almost nothing about the events.

The silence is deafening. We hear about little more than the "JOY" we are all supposed to feel about the ascension to the heights of the American government of the most vapid candidate in our history--one who has never received a single vote in a presidential primary and who has yet to say much about her policy agenda.

The Secret Service didn't reveal to us that their sniper wasn't the law enforcement officer who disarmed Crooks with a lucky shot. They didn't reveal the fact that the majority of Trump's security detail wasn't Secret Service officers, but ill-trained Homeland Security officials. They denied that resources were refused when requested for the protection of the president. It took the local cops to reveal that the Secret Service snipers didn't even meet with the local officials or even accept their offer of a drone and a direct radio connection to the locals.

Or that Crooks trained at the same shooting range as Homeland Security officers.

You would think that the Secret Service and Homeland Security would be falling all over themselves to quell suspicions. After all, we are in the midst of a presidential campaign--one in which the current president keeps shouting that Donald Trump is an existential threat to the country and that Trump is Hitler reborn. A president hell-bent on keeping Trump off the ballot and put into jail.

Wouldn't it make sense to be open and transparent--to reassure the country that however much Biden, Mayorkas, and every Establishment figure hates Trump, they wish him no physical harm?

Nope. Hardly a word, but plenty of stonewalling. It looks incredibly suspicious, and Melania Trump is right to call them out.

By now, it is abundantly clear that the Biden Administration was not interested in protecting Donald Trump from harm and that the top figures in the Secret Service waged a campaign to strangle the Secret Service detail protecting the president of resources. They put incompetent Homeland Security officers whose job was to investigate crimes into vital positions, refused to deploy the intelligence unit charged with spotting threats, and left the best sniper position available unguarded.

We need answers, and I am convinced none will be forthcoming from this administration.

We all know that if somebody had taken a shot at Kamala Harris or Joe Biden, it would be in the news every day, and Mayorkas would be screaming about MAGA terrorists. But the fact is that we know more about the school shooter from last week than we do about Thomas Matthew Crooks.

That is insane. And suspicious.

Will Melania's plea for more information move the ball forward? Will we ever get an accounting of what happened and why? Or will this incident be buried, as seemingly all inconvenient stories?

I fear the latter. Congress should demand that 60-day report immediately. By Monday at the latest, and hold hearings raking everybody, including Mayorkas, over the coals.

Will it happen? Or will it all be swept under the rug?
