As I promised you, despite being on vacation in Canada (no euthanasia for me, thank you!), I have taken the time to provide you with some much-needed humor and cynicism.
I missed the fourth day of the Democrat National Convention, and I have to say that I didn't miss it a bit.
Nor have I been on Twitter. Aside from the time in the hotel rooms, I couldn't have in any case. While my phone plan does apparently allow me to connect to some Canadian cell phone company of another, the towers are very rare in the remote regions we are exploring. There are literally signs telling people to gas up now because there won't be a fuel station within 50 miles!
My dad and I have been fighting about politics, and especially about whether to trust the media at all. He acknowledges that they covered up the Biden mental decline, a lot of COVID information, and that they occasionally play fast and loose with the truth.
But he still relies on them. Our conversations have been very heated.
But it's fun, and we have also listened to one of my favorite podcasts, The History of English. If that sounds boring to you, that is a mistake. It is so fascinating that after about 10 minutes, he was hooked. Lots of WOWS! and Aha! moments. And you learn about lots more than language, because you can't understand our language without learning a lot of the history of Europe.
I am not going to do a long essay because I am bushed, and am on vacation. Not only that but at the "resort" (ha!) we stayed at last night, the pillows were so soft I got a crick in the neck and couldn't sleep well.
We have both gotten some nice photographs, and it's great to spend time with him.
