Sunday Smiles

I was looking for a topic for my Sunday Smiles essay when I came across a story that was simultaneously frustrating and a perfect example of how little you should trust politicians and activists.

Sonoma County, California has declared Racism a public health emergency because of the shocking disparities they claim exist between the health outcomes of Black residents and those of Whites and members of other races.

For those of you unfamiliar, Sonoma is about as White and as liberal a place as you will find in California, with a Black population that could, to exaggerate a bit, fit into a high school gym. According to the county's website, the population looks like this:

White, Non-Hispanics currently represent 64.2% of the county’s population while Hispanics account for 25.6%. Other ethnic groups include: Asian/Pacific Islander (5.2%), African Americans (1.7%), American Indians (1.0%), and persons reporting two or more races (2.3%). While the county’s population is less diverse than that of California as a whole, this is changing. By 2020, Sonoma’s Hispanic population, currently estimated at 129,057, is expected to grow to 168,290 and account for 31% of the total population. Other ethnic groups are projected to experience less dramatic growth.

If you read the story about Sonoma County's declaration, it is striking how awful the County sounds. Racism is rampant, and minorities are dropping like flies. It really sounds like a hellhole, and one has to wonder how many KKK members are roaming the streets looking for Black people to give awful diseases to:

In Sonoma County, the county's health department zeroed in on the fact that Black residents have an average lifespan at birth of 10 years less than white county residents, among other disparities.

Supervisors passed the resolution unanimously after an impassioned and at times emotional speech from Health Services Director Tina Rivera. She noted during her presentation that she was the only Black person who was the head of a county department, which made the effort more challenging.

She said living and working in Sonoma County as a Black woman was "extremely difficult."

"This is probably the single most important presentation I make before you today," Rivera told the board. "Because this is not just a presentation. I believe it's a call to action."

Not everybody was in agreement, and some of those awful KKK members objected to the declaration, and we have been reliably informed that they are very, very bad people:

Following the presentation, three angry, aggrieved white men spoke separately during the public comment period, denouncing the resolution and the county's anti-racism efforts to improve its health care system. Supervisor Chris Coursey said the men helped prove why the resolution was needed.

Men like them have a shorter lifespan than the people they are accused of wanting to hold down.

Now I, as with all of you, certainly don't want Black and Hispanic people in Sonoma County to be hunted, nor do I want them to die earlier than anybody else, so I decided to look into what the statistics are regarding health outcomes of Sonoma residents. Conveniently I found those statistics at the County website--presumably every County Commissioner had these stats at their fingertips because, well, they are on the Sonoma website.

What do they say?

It is true that there is a disparity between health outcomes for Sonoma County residents, but it is also true that Hispanics and Blacks live significantly longer than Whites, whose health outcomes are essentially the same as American Indians. Hispanics outlive Whites by five years, according to Sonoma County, and Blacks do by about a year.

That seems inconsistent with the testimony on which this declaration was based. This leads to a question: were they lying then, or are they lying now? And no matter which time they lied, didn't those "aggrieved" White men have a bit of a point? After all, their lifespans are among the shortest, but they are being blamed for a problem that DOES NOT EXIST, according to the city's own website.

I would be pissed. The County government is making it very clear that it doesn't care a bit about Whites and is slandering them for a problem that has been invented. Unless the County is lying on its website, in which case they have a right to be pissed about that.

We all know that facts are by now utterly irrelevant; what is important is the identification of victims and victimizers. The victims are always of certain races, and the victimizers are always Whites (or Jews).

If you wonder why so many people are living in an alternate universe, it's because they still trust the "facts" that are pumped into their brains, and until we can break the mesmerization effect of the MSM, we will be pissing into the wind.
