One Example of How Media Creates Racial Panic

The demand for racism is so high that counterfeits show up all the time.

It’s like the solid gold Rolex watches sold by street vendors in big cities for $15. They look sort of real from a distance. Just don’t look too closely if you want to believe.

A great example of counterfeit racism generated by a media figure desperate to find hate wherever he can popped up in my Twitter feed last night, and it is a doozy.

Deadspin is a modestly popular site that covers sports and is part of the Left-wing media network that owns Jezebel, The Root, and the formerly great The Onion. It brags that it covers sports news “without fear, favor, or compromise,” reminding us of how over the top self-important media organizations can be today. “Democracy Dies in Darkness” and all that…

Deadspin’s resident race hysteric Carron J. Phillips took it upon himself to get outraged at a pre-teen child dressing up for a Kansas City Chiefs game. The child, being White, is clearly trying to humiliate both Black and Native Americans by wearing a headdress and blackface, right?

It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time.

This child, between 5 and 7, “found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time.” Yep. That is what I see, for sure.

As you would expect, the outrage is totally manufactured. The kid wasn’t wearing blackface–he double painted his face red and black–and of course, the headdress is an homage to the Chiefs, a team named after…Native American chiefs, many of whom wore headdresses.

And he is a KID, celebrating his team, not a KKK member out on the town to burn a cross. What does Phillips think…the kid is going to White Supremacist meetings after the game to down a few brews and plot massacres?

Phillips thinks Roger Gooddell and the Kansas City Chiefs must make a severe statement condemning the child. Something must be done!

Or, perhaps, he doesn’t actually believe that. Instead, what he really believes is that every opportunity to scream RACIST!! needs to be taken lest the world not burn, and the world, indeed, must burn with hatred. People must be set against each other for the greater good.

What is striking about this story is not the open exhibition of racial hatred by a child–any sane person would roll their eyes at the notion that this kid has a clue about any of this–but rather the hatred in the heart of Carron Phillips who spends every waking moment looking for a way to smear anybody who happens to be White.

And it’s not just Phillips. There is an entire genre of race hoaxers who look for opportunities to generate outrage in the hope of gaining victim points they can cash in later. That is what this is really about.

Some outrage-mongers are already calling for the kid to be banned from NFL stadiums, although the idea is so absurd on its face that I hope this is satire and not serious.

These days, it is hard to tell.

Is it any wonder that people are talking about a national divorce? Who wants to have to deal with BS like this all the time?

UPDATE: Carron Phillips is doubling down:
