Lots of people get warm and fuzzy when thinking about the United Nations.

Yes, I know. Lots of people are insane but bear with me. There are people who like to hear nuns sing Kumbaya, too.

Those of us who live in the real world are more than a bit skeptical of the organization, even if some believe that it has its uses. I am skeptical of that myself, but there is an argument that even a corrupt and nearly useless bureaucracy can sometimes buy time for realists to actually accomplish something useful.

Can we all agree, though, that an organization that puts Somalia, Cuba, Russia, China, Pakistan, Libya, and Venezuela in charge of its Human Rights Commission shouldn’t be in charge of determining who can say what? Are we really going to be putting China in charge of rooting out “misinformation?”

Well, yes, apparently. We are.

If you have followed the UN in the news for any length of time you might be aware of the fact that it is one of the most prolific sex traffickers in the world. Tens of thousands of women have been raped by UN-affiliated troops, aid workers, and employees. The UN created a cholera epidemic in Haiti and mightily worked to cover it up. The organization itself is famously corrupt and its standards of truth and falsity are, let’s say, flexible.

I can easily understand why UN officials would want to control the flow of information. They have a lot to be ashamed of, and of course, information is power. If there is anything that politicians and bureaucrats want more than power I am unaware of what it might be. Perhaps access to the sex traffickers of the UN?

No, sex trafficking is possible because they have power, so power it is.

As with the World Economic Forum, the United Nations’ aspirations for world dominance are hardly secret. Both organizations repeatedly proclaim their intention to remake the world in their image, and both organizations are indisputably wealthy, and powerful, and have ties into the highest levels of governments around the world. Their power is not unlimited, but given that the political and economic leaders of almost every country routinely pay homage to them they clearly have quite a lot of it.

Yet pointing these indisputable facts out earns one the label of “conspiracy theorist.” But it isn’t conspiracy, because it isn’t even secret.

And it isn’t a theory: everybody involved loudly proclaims what they are doing, how they will do it, and by when they hope to accomplish their goals. Just as, here, Melissa Fleming proudly discusses the power the UN already has to manipulate information and how the UN will get even more control in the future.

The vitriol aimed at Elon Musk, you may have noticed, only started after he decided to defend free speech and criticize Democrats. His purchase of Twitter sealed the deal–they want him destroyed. The European Union routinely threatens him over Twitter; the US government has been chasing after him using every bureaucratic tool at its disposal, and Congress is filled with members who threaten dire consequences for his defiance.

It is all about the information flow. Information is power. All the social media companies save Twitter are under the thumb of the information control complex. They want Twitter too, and as Fleming says, they intend to get even more control.

The West isn’t China…yet. There are still outlets where you can speak the truth. But the number is fewer, their reach is limited, and we are all under attack. Townhall, for instance, is labeled not “safe” for advertisers, meaning that all the big dollar spenders are directed elsewhere. Elon created the current Twitter Blue program to make up for the advertising revenue Twitter lost due to becoming a freer speech platform.

Their goal is clear, and they tell it to you. Remember Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand, telling her citizens to dismiss any information that didn’t come from her government? That is the goal. Trust only approved sources.

Why do people not rebel?

Some do, of course. But most people don’t, and before you call them all sheep you have to realize that many people just want to live their lives in peace, which is not a bad goal. Even the Founding Fathers said as much in the Declaration of Independence, in which they acknowledged that people will endure a fair amount of abuse until it becomes too much. The costs of fighting against abuses are very high, and the benefits are often slight.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed

Revolutions usually end badly and should be avoided if possible.

But fighting against this impulse to tyranny doesn’t require a revolution. It requires a modest resolve–even just the willingness to speak up to one’s neighbors and to go out and vote in most cases. Tell your neighbor to back off. Rock the boat.

Most people failed that test in 2020.

We have an even larger test in fighting the information suppression complex, and I worry that the West will fail this test as well. And it is even more important than the last because what is at stake is not just this generation, but our culture at stake. We failed an entire generation over the past 3 years.

Will we fail all subsequent ones as well?
