I could write multiple posts about this story because in truth there are so many outrages all converging around one bizarre set of circumstances.
Reduxx, which covers the current cultural insanity with a clear eye and a great nose for BS tells the story of Richard Smith, a deranged man who spreads chaos and insanity in his wake.
UK: A social media user has been contacted by police after expressing concerns about an "adult baby" who has been speaking to autistic children in schools.@genderisharmful was warned that his posts on Richard Smith might lead to "criminal matters."https://t.co/v4tLuu9GIW

Smith himself isn’t the big problem. He is a garden-variety insane person who has latched onto alphabet ideology and the fascination with autism to build a nice career spreading confusion to vulnerable kids. He appears to be mentally ill, and perhaps a grifter of sorts, but in a normal world, he would be sent off for treatment for his obvious mental illness.
Instead, Smith is lionized, given access to autistic kids as an authority, feted as a great humanitarian, and is able to use the police to harass and threaten with incarceration somebody who is alarmed that this sick puppy is being treated as a role model for children.
So what’s the deal with Smith?
This man has also adopted two children. At least one of them is particularly vulnerable and has special educational needs.

One last note on this…
Whatever this man is doing, wherever he is doing it, there are many many people, teachers, other education related professionals and others, who have been complicit in indulging him and what he does.
They are all to blame for facilitating this.

Smith, you see, dresses up as a baby, wears diapers, uses a pacifier, and carries around stuffed animals. He also presents himself as autistic, but wasn’t diagnosed until just before he started his charity.
He also is a well-known (although completely untrained) “educator” who runs a non-profit focused on autistic kids, does one-on-one sessions with children (!), and is presented as a role model for neurodivergent children.
Smith’s advocacy has gained substantial notoriety, and he was recognized by the Duchess of Cornwall in 2022 with a coveted Platinum Champion award as part of the late Queen Elizabeth’s jubilee celebrations.
As I said, this is insane.
Even more insane is that the elite in the community have rallied around him, showering him with gifts and sponsorships, inviting him into schools, promoting his nonprofit, and endorsing his bizarre practices. All of which he brags about on social media.
When the Twitter user “Gender if Harmful” posted about this, using Smith’s own social media posts, something odd happened: they were contacted and threatened by the local police.
As you can see from the Twitter posts, no threats were made. Nothing libelous was said. Almost all the content was the social media posts put up by Smith himself. Clearly “Gender is Harmful” doesn’t approve, but says nothing remotely out of bounds. If Smith looks bad it is only because Smith makes himself look bad.
But while the short thread posted by Gender is Harmful provided only general information already in the public domain, the user was quickly contacted by Northumbria police. Curiously, the force is one Smith has worked with in the past, providing training on “how to better support people with autism who come into police custody.”
Speaking to Reduxx, Gender is Harmful, who wished to stay anonymous for his safety, provided copies of the multiple emails he was sent by police constable Will Sutton.
In the first, Sutton asks to speak to whoever is responsible for the Gender is Harmful X account, to which the user declined. Sutton then wrote once again shortly after, this time clarifying his reasons for communications and stating a “grown up conversation” was required. In an email littered with grammatical errors, Sutton wrote:
“I’m wanting to speak to them regarding a post that has caused a lot of negative comments and abuse which at this stage I may be able to deal with via a grown up conversation with those involved although if it continues it might lead to criminal matters around harassment or malicious communications so if you could let me know who it is that would be useful. If needs be I’ll have to go through relevant channels,” Sutton wrote. “I look forward to your decent, helpful and law abiding response.”
Stop and think for a moment. The police are acting as speech enforcers for Richard Smith.
As I said, this is insane.
Apparently what the police were objecting to was the fact that when people saw Richard Smith and heard that authorities were helping hook him up with 1 on 1 interactions with autistic children they found the idea ludicrous and dangerous. In other words, once the information on this man who dresses as a baby and who brags about playing with his feces in diapers got out, normal people expressed horror. As normal people will.
For instance, once the dam was broken parents began to speak up, and what they said was not flattering.
Gender is Harmful echoed some of the concerns expressed by the parents.
“Having worked with autistic learners and alongside autistic colleagues over many years, I was alarmed to see the messages Smith appears to be spreading to schools and staff,” he said. “While I can’t question Smith’s autism itself, there are a number of things he does which raise more questions and concerns. He claims to be incontinent, but goes further and talks about playing with his own feces and instead of saying he wears pads, which is the more commonly accepted term for older children/adults, he uses the term ‘nappies.’ He also says he needs to have chew toys, but again, has taken it further and sucks a dummy. He also wears bibs and dresses like a baby girl.”
Gender is Harmful goes further and says that some parents of autistic children have expressed to him that they find the prospect of Smith interacting with their kids “scary” because he promotes behaviors that are largely unrepresentative of the average person with autism.
“My experience of working with young autistic people, some of whom might be hopeful of going on to further study or gain employment, would not fare well if they were to play with their own feces or say, dress like an adult baby.”
You see why I say Smith is not the real problem here: he is a crazy person, or perhaps somebody who has grasped that there is an enormous incentive to appear to be one. The Dutchess of Cornwall celebrates him; a local car dealer gives him a $100,000 car. The police cater to his whims.
Those are the people to whom the outrage should be directed. Any person in authority who sides with an insane man against concerned parents who don’t want their children to emulate this crazy person is being persecuted, all in the name of diversity and inclusion.
I have no idea if Smith is a predator or not; what I do know is that he should not be around children. Any sane person should know that.
It turns out though, that if you say the truth out loud you might wind up dealing with the speech police.
