Leftists clearly do not understand what fascism actually is. Every time they see freedom they declare it fascism, and every time they declare something fascist they want to physically destroy it or hurt someone.

That apparently is the case with Aaron Hillegass, the current Director of Applied Data Sciences at Florida’s New College.

Hillegas is an ostentatiously pronouned (He/Him) data sciences guy who appears to have made some money, or at least have some. Along with himself, he brought a nice donation to the New College when he was hired (I have no idea if one has anything to do with the other), and he has decided to remove both himself and his money from the campus due to Governor Ron DeSantis’ reforms at the school.

He is, by the way, the very first person I have ever seen who actually posted his diploma on LinkedIn. What a doofus. What is it about Lefties and their credentials? Do they actually require validation at this level?

I haven’t a clue where either of my diplomas is and frankly couldn’t care. When I got my Master’s Degree it arrived in the mail because I never thought of going to the ceremony. At the time I was going for a Ph. D. (I never finished) and it seemed pretentious to parade around in a nylon gown to get a meaningless piece of paper. I did go to the ceremony when my wife got her Ph. D. But that was more like visiting her in the hospital after going through 20 hours of labor. Have to admire the baby.

Still, whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Well, Hillegass is upset as heck about Ron DeSantis’ “fascist” takeover of the New College (a state school paid for with tax dollars) and has had enough. So he literally wants to burn it down, although he is too apathetic to follow through. Besides, as an alum, he is nostalgic for the place despite it becoming a Nazi concentration camp or something.

No, I am not kidding.

I screenshot the tweet instead of linking it because, perhaps, he would delete it. If he had any decency he would, but I suspect he is proud of putting his call to arson out in public.

There is nothing shocking at this point about Leftists being open about their fetishistic love affair with violence. Actual arson is “fiery but mostly peaceful,” and physically attacking young women for speaking is characterized as “peaceful protest” by college administrators.

But it bears note nonetheless because in case you didn’t know it this is actually what fascism looks like. Ideologically motivated zealots use or threaten violence to get their way, including using the power of institutions (San Francisco State, the MSM, and occasionally the federal government) to impose their will on others through extralegal and illegal means. It is arresting political opponents, sending brownshirts (Antifa, the alphabet mobs who attack and intimidate others) to beat up or shout down dissenters, and putting people into solitary confinement for political crimes.

It is burning down the Reichstag. I guess we are lucky that Hillegass isn’t quite that “patriotic,” whatever his fantasy.

Hillegass could post this resignation letter expressing his desire to burn down the college and calling it patriotic is exactly what a fascistic person would do, and he can rest assured that he will get applause from his ideological fellow travelers.

This man was employed by the state to interact with students. Glad he is leaving.

Obviously, there is no loss to the New College. That is a good thing. And only a fool would cry about his taking his money with him, as no amount of money is worth having to employ such an odious and potentially violent man.

No, Hillegass has done us a favor by reminding us of whom we should be careful. The Left is cultivating an ever more combustible environment, where activists are becoming ever more openly violent. And the powers-that-be are happy about that.

Good riddance to Hillegass, but beware his ilk. Unfortunately, this is one down, and about a million such people to get out of academia.
