How many dead immigrants are enough?

Joe Biden and his open borders advocates are enriching drug and human traffickers, disrupting the lives of millions who live along our border with Mexico, and leaving a string of dead bodies at our southern border.

It’s evil. And, as far as I can tell, the only reason he is doing it is to bolster his political support with a small slice of the electorate. Why else? As far as I know the Mexican cartels are among the few bad actors who haven’t been bribing Hunter to cover for them.

Fox News interviewed a rancher who lives two miles from the border who sees about 100 migrants crossing his ranch every day.

John Ladd discussed what his Arizona ranch has been facing.

“We’re catching about 100 a day,” he said, adding that Border Patrol agents are busy handling the influx in Yuma.

“Biden’s administration has detailed two-thirds of our Border Patrol agents to other areas to process people given up in Yuma, Arizona. So we don’t have enough manpower in our area to have a slight chance at controlling what’s coming across the border.”

Ladd also shared that there have been 16 dead bodies found on his ranch, including two in the last few months.

“Biden is killing people by letting them come across the border like this,” Ladd argued.

Canyon County, Idaho Sheriff Kieran Donahue said there is “not enough manpower” to deal with the influx of drugs seen in his community from the southern border, including deadly fentanyl.

“We’re seeing the numbers of deaths rise by overdose in our communities throughout this state. And really, we don’t see an end to it, and we don’t see how we stop,” he told host Carley Shimkus.

Most Americans are frustrated by the consequences of an open border, and the issue is at the top of the list in people’s concerns when they will enter the ballot box.

But too little attention is paid to the human cost to the people coming to America illegally.

Leftist like to frame the argument solely in terms of compassionate liberals who favor open borders and mean nasty conservatives who care only for themselves. It is a compelling, self-congratulatory narrative that appeals to the people who like to put up “we believe” yard signs.

But it is self-deception. Migrants who traverse the wilds of Mexico are subject to excruciating months of harassment, occasional torture, rape, and human trafficking. If they try to evade the border patrol in the US they are fleeing into a harsh and forbidding desert that swallows many of them whole. If one single rancher has found 16 bodies on this side of the border, how many others have been lost to the vultures?

We’re seeing a record number of immigrants that are coming across that border. The record number of deaths from immigrants not only crossing that dangerous river, but also being smuggled by human smugglers that are being killed during these high-speed chases is also in different situations like we saw in San Antonio, Texas, where we lost 53 immigrants smuggled in a trailer.”

“Nearly 300 Americans are dying every single day because of that poison, fentanyl. And the federal government fails to designate the Mexican cartels for what they are, and that is a foreign terrorist organization,” said Olivarez.

Ladd concluded that ranchers like himself feel “completely ignored” by the Biden administration.

“If we don’t have control of the border, we’re not going to have to worry about inflation because America is going to change if we don’t get our act together,” said Ladd.

Joe Biden’s border policies are the farthest thing from compassionate. They are cruel to the migrants, damaging to people living in the border communities, disruptive to our economy–reducing the income potential of Americans climbing the economic ladder–and poisoning Americans with toxic drugs.

Getting the border under control should be the first priority of any sovereign government. If the government doesn’t exist to defend its citizens and defend its borders it becomes a failed state. Mexico long ago lost control over vast segments of its territory, and as with other failed states like Afghanistan before its collapse, the government only really has control over some parts of its population centers.

This is future that Biden is creating for America–one in an elite living in enclaves is safe and protected, yet people outside those areas live in a lawless society. Already the Blue cities have been segregated into “safe” and “unsafe” zones, and Biden’s policies will spread the pain farther and farther. Here in Minnesota crime has been spreading from the urban core to the suburbs, making crime a top issue in the election.

Red State governors are right to push back, and I expect that control over the border will become a defining issue in the 2024 presidential campaign. Governors Ducey, Abbot, and DeSantis are leading the charge, but I expect Republicans across America will take up the issue and pound the Democrats into dust next election cycle.

Unfortunately it is likely that until Biden is tossed out of office the damage will continue. Drugs will flow across the border, human traffickers and rapists will thrive, and the cartels will spread their influence from Mexico into the United States.
