Welcome back to our VIP video series "Off the Beaten Path," featuring my friend Christian Toto of Hollywood in Toto! Christian and I start off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Christian previews his latest podcast at HiT.
What constitutes courage in today's society, and why do we find so little of it? Our friend John Ondrasik has an essay at the Washington Post hailing Boy George's fortitude in standing up for Israel and the Jews after the atrocities of October 7. His song, "We Will Dance Again," reminds listeners that Hamas terrorists massacred festival goers who only came to dance and celebrate peace at the Nova music festival. John has done the same with his song "OK (We Are Not OK)," and experienced the same backlash. Why do so few of the colleagues of John and Boy George stand up to defend their right to speak?
Oh, let's not always see the same hands.
We also tackle the Ariana Grande controversy. Is her health a legit matter of concern for fans and observers? Is it a legit matter for humor?
We also tackle more fun topics, such as the films that create great family memories, and those that create, well ... other kinds of memories. We take a look at the career of Paul Verhoeven and wonder what he's up to these days. Did Taylor and Travis go the Full Tacky, or was there a method to their wedding madness?
