Truther Marine: the coup de grace

Remember this guy?

In the original post we identified him as Johnny Wave, and speculated that he was actually an actor named Zach. Now we have more complete info on him. Johnny Wave is aspiring actor Zach Skiles, former Marine and actor listed on a site called Combat Casting. Here’s Zach’s profile/resume on the site.

United States Marine Corps Weapons training (M16, M16A2, 50 Caliber Machine Gun, Marc19 (Grenade Launcher)), Grenade Positioning, Land Navigation ,Leadership Psychology in Garrison and Field positions, Elder and Founder of the Blue Oyster Tribe(Combat Efficient), Licensed truck driver for the 7-ton, 5-ton, Humvee 21/4-ton and 11/4-ton, Acting Corpsman and First Responder, Marine Corps Martial Arts Tan Belt, Artillery and Landing support and security

So he’s a real former Marine who evidently served in the 9th Comm Battalion at Camp Pendleton, and a real Truther if you go by his MySpace page, Johnny Wave’s Myspace page and the comments he left there which led our investigator to his Combat Casting page.

Mr Moj

“Hey Dude!

WOW!!!!!! That was some awesome footage of you out in the streets on the 11th!!! Your very well informed and have some really, big BALLS! You looked so cute in your uniform too! – Ummm, were you workin’ that Bostonian accent as well?”

The footage Mr Moj is referring to is the clip that of Johnny Wave from the 9/11/07 protest, that we also posted last week.

On that day, September 11, 2007, Mr Moj had this to say on Zach’s MySpace page:

Sep 11 2007 7:18 PM

“Hey Dude!

On behalf of myself and the United States of America, I would like to Thank You for caring about the world, and for your voice and speaking out, for NOT thinking that Bush is cute, and spreading the word of the conspiracy of 9/11!

GOD BLESS AMERICAN ZACH!”

Zach replies on Mr Moj’s MySpace page:

And on that same page, Zach turns up signed in as “J. Wave,” or Johnny Wave.

Zach has a MySpace friend, BRE, and on her page he shows up using the same photo that’s on both the Zach and Johnny Wave pages, and on Sept 2 says that he’s joined Combat Casting.

dude, i forgot a few guys @ combat casting are stuntmen, i just registered w/ them so if you’re up for the stuntwoman thing they say there’s definitely some work to be done… check out my profile song, it’s possibly the best profile song EVER!!!

So there’s no doubt: The Truther Marine is Johnny Wave is Zach Skiles.

The upshot of all of this is that it’s likely that the political activities that Zach is conducting in his Marine Corps dress blues are illegal.

If he was never in the Corps at all, this law would apply to him.

If he’s still in the Corps (and with service dates on his Combat Casting page stating that he served from 2000 to 2004, he might still be in the Inactive Ready Reserves), then this law would apply.

1. Members of the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve, including retired Marines, are prohibited from wearing the Marine Corps uniform while engaged in any of the following activities, functions or circumstances unless specifically authorized by the CMC (PA):

a. Soliciting funds for any purpose from the public outside of a military base or establishment.

b. Participating in any type of show or event which is commercially sponsored for advertising purposes, where it could be implied or construed that the Marine Corps “endorses” the product advertised.

c. “Endorsing” commercial products in such ways as to involve the uniform, title, grade or rate, or in any way establish or imply their military affiliation with such products.

d. Appearing or participating in any event in public that would compromise the dignity of the uniform.

2. Whenever any doubt exists as to the propriety of wearing the Marine Corps uniform under circumstances similar to those enumerated above, specific requests should be directed to the CMC (MCUB/PA). For further information on those laws and directives, which govern the authority to wear the uniform, refer to chapter 11.

And if he’s no longer even in the IRR but was once in the Corps, then the law still applies to him.

a. Members of the Armed Forces (including retired members and members of reserve components). The wearing of the uniform is prohibited under any of the following circumstances:

(1) At any meeting or demonstration which is a function of, or sponsored by an organization, association, movement, group, or combination of persons which the Attorney General of the United States has designated, pursuant to E.O. 10450, as amended as totalitarian, fascist, communist, or subversive, or as having adopted a policy of advocating or approving the commission of acts of force or violence to deny others their rights under The Constitution of the United States, or as seeking to alter the form of Government of the United States by unconstitutional means.

(2) During or in connection with the furtherance of political activities, private employment or commercial interests, when an inference of official sponsorship for the activity or interest could be drawn.

So Mr. Skiles might think about putting that uniform on for the next Truther protest in Santa Monica.

Update: Guess who Mr. Skiles supports for president.

Update: An email from a Marine.

I served in the US Marine Corps back in the 70’s and if things haven’t changed greatly since I was in the Corps, there is no way that this guy could be a “Marine” and “active Corpsman” as the latter is a term for the Navy Medics assigned to the Marines. So I am only left to call B.S. on this guy. I am not so sure that anyone in a Communications Battalion would be versed in so many things as he claims. Usually an enlistee only gets 1 MOS, his profile you have posted seems to have several MOS designations, from the typicall Grunt ie Weapons training items & so called land nav. Only an NCO would have any Leadership Training whatsoever as well.

His other MOS items being in the Motor Pool- so called Liscensed driver of several vehicles. The biggest BS item is his claim to be an Acting Corpsman & First Responder!!! I didn’t know that the Marines awarded any “Martial Arts Belts” either.

Other Marines, what say you on this?
