Hanoi Jane parallels Trump and Hitler and rise of the Third Reich

It’s election time so the name calling is in peak use. One particular insult can always be counted on against a Republican and it’s in no short supply now. Republican presidents are usually referred to as Hitler and this year is no different. Never mind that it’s a mid-term election and not a presidential election year.

Actress Jane Fonda, a.k.a. Hanoi Jane is the latest celeb to make headlines by paralleling the rise of Adolf Hitler and President Trump. She was in a very supportive environment – she was being honored along with some other liberal women in New York City at the Women’s Media Awards.

“If you’ve read anything about the rise of the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler, you will see the parallels,” Fonda said. “Attacking the media is the first step in the move towards fascism. The cornerstone to democracy is an independent, democratic media.”

The Grace and Frankie star added that “civility” is also under attack. “And we don’t have to take it anymore. Voting is the way to stop it. Everybody has to vote.”

That’s right. The woman who just compared President Trump to Hitler says civility is under attack. You can’t make this stuff up. Nothing says civility like inserting Hitler into a conversation about a person of a different political philosophy, right? Ugh. Irony is dead in 2018.

Remember when the left labeled President George W. Bush as Bushitler? The Hitler tag doesn’t just happen in America, it happens worldwide now. It’s usually a lazy way to make a distinction between right and wrong. Hey, you know what was wrong? It was very wrong – I’m one who believes it was treasonous – when Jane Fonda traipsed off to North Vietnam and showed compassion and comfort to our communist enemy during the Vietnam war. She was photographed straddling an antiaircraft gun, used to shoot down American planes and I will never shake that image from my memory. As far as I’m concerned, she should never have been allowed back into America.

Fonda’s anti-war efforts weren’t just about the war. Her mission was anti-military in general. She and fellow leftist actor Donald Sunderland even formed a group to counter Bob Hope’s USO shows overseas. Their group was called Free the Army, or FTA for short. It also implied f**k the Army. She’s quite the classy broad.

Now Fonda is 80 years old and accepts awards from other liberals which gives her a platform to make her inane remarks. She even included a little plea for civil disobedience in her acceptance ramble. Don’t like the law? Well, just don’t obey it.

And she said she’s far from her breaking point, no matter the obstacles or upsetting defeats — like Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court amid allegations of sexual assault.

“Even if the Supreme Court were to make terribly unfair rulings, if you remember, Martin Luther King said it’s our obligation to disobey unjust laws,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re not going to obey them.”

On a side note, dovetailing a piece I wrote earlier, in case you mistake Netflix as a purely entertainment-based vehicle, another woman receiving an award at this shindig verified that Netflix provides a platform for liberal political ideology. (emphasis mine) I’ll also note that Jane Fonda stars in a Netflix television series, Grace and Frankie. The show has been renewed for Season Five.

Persistence in general was a common theme throughout the evening. Cindy Holland, who received the WMC visible and powerful in media award for her work as vp, original content at Netflix, told the audience about a particularly hard time she faced just last year.

“On January 27, 2017, the Trump administration announced the first travel ban,” Holland said. “It also happened to be the night before the Screen Actors Guild Awards. My partner Annie and I were scheduled to go to a nominee’s reception. Not only did I now not feel like celebrating — though the artists certainly deserved celebration — I was deeply troubled, like so many others. I wanted to quit my job and dedicate myself to something more important than entertainment. Annie said to me that Netflix provided a platform to the voices of the ‘other’ — particularly women and different minority groups — to be seen, heard, and understood all around the world. She told me I’m needed where I am, and that I could make a difference.”

It’s good when the mask slips and the truth is told. This is why Trump calls out the media on a regular basis. The Resistance in the press just proves him right over and over. Their egos can’t handle criticism. The entertainment is only too happy to help their grievance narrative along.
