The Dallas Morning News reports a judge has dismissed a federal civil rights lawsuit filed on behalf of Ahmed Mohamed (aka Clock boy) by his father.

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Irving ISD, the city of Irving and several others filed by the father of a teen who was arrested after bringing a homemade clock to school that was mistaken for a bomb.

The federal lawsuit alleged Ahmed Mohamed’s civil rights were violated in September 2015 when Irving police officers took him into custody at MacArthur High School and charged him with making a “hoax bomb.” The then  14-year-old was also suspended from school for three days…

The suit filed by Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed on behalf of his son, had asked for unspecified damages. The suit had been amended twice since it was initially filed in August 2016.

The same judge who dismissed the lawsuit today also dismissed an earlier version of the lawsuit last May. But this is far from the only lawsuit Mohamed’s father has filed and lost on behalf of his son. His father also filed lawsuits against Fox News, Ben Ferguson, The Blaze, Glenn Beck, the Center for Security Policy, Jim Hanson, and Ben Shapiro. All of those defendants won their cases on First Amendment grounds and Ahmed’s father was forced to pay their legal fees. Attorney and legal blogger Ken White (aka Popehat) estimated those fees would amount to several hundred thousand dollars.

This whole story started in 2015 when Mohamed brought a disassembled alarm clock to school in a pencil case. He was arrested and questioned by police for creating a hoax bomb. Ahmed became an instant celebrity on the grounds that he was a misunderstood whiz kid. He even received a personal invitation to the White House from President Obama.

After numerous lawsuits, no one has been found to have violated Ahmed’s civil rights. The whole narrative surrounding this incident was a sham. I’ve posted this clip before but this was clearly a store-bought alarm clock taken out of its plastic shell, not the work of a teenage genius.
