Hillary's former communications director: 'I do believe that there was probably collusion'

Hillary Clinton’s former communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, now says she believes the Trump campaign was colluding “at least” with WikiLeaks and possibly with Russia during the campaign. From Politico:

Palmieri also said Wednesday that she suspects that Trump’s campaign did collude with Russia, or at least the website WikiLeaks, on cyberattacks on Democratic Party officials that embarrassed the Clinton campaign…

“Just as somebody who lived through that campaign, I do believe that there was probably collusion,” Palmieri said. “At least between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks. … The Trump campaign was just way too ready to jump on whatever leak happened each day. They clearly had their statement ready to go every time there was the leak dujour in the morning from John Podesta’s email accounts.”

Jennifer Palmieri, you may recall, is the person who lashed out at Kellyanne Conway during a post-election discussion about the campaign at Harvard. “If providing a platform for white supremacists makes me a brilliant tactician, I am proud to have lost,” Palmieri said. And last month when the NY Times reported on connections between the Trump camp and Russia, Palmieri was one of the former Clinton staffers said to be feeling some schadenfreude. From Mic:

“I knew at some point this was going to catch up to Trump,” said former Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri. “It’s painful to watch.”…

Clinton campaign manager Mook called for a full investigation into the incident, saying, “Anyone who gave aid, support or comfort to the Russians must be held accountable for treason.”

So that’s the mood among Clinton’s former staff a couple weeks ago. They are still bitter and they still want someone to go to jail for “treason.” The fact that no one, including the sources who spoke to the NY Times, has seen any evidence for the most important part of this claim doesn’t seem to matter.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Sunday that up to the date he left his position he had seen no evidence of any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Last week, Sen. Chris Coons claimed on MSNBC that the FBI had transcripts showing Trump campaign collusion with Russia. However, by Sunday Coons retracted that claim saying, “I don’t have and I don’t know of any conclusive proof one way or the other about whether there was collusion between senior levels of the Trump campaign and Russian officials.” And last month House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes told reporters, “what I’ve been told by many folks is that there’s nothing there.”

These claims of Russian collusion, coming from former Clinton staffers, are just more sour grapes until someone provides some evidence to back them up.
