In addition the police have one woman and two other individuals in custody who they suspect may have been involved in the shooting. The Chief said they still don’t have a clear motive because the suspects have not been forthcoming yet.

Update: Fox News broadcast this video which show a man, presumably a police officer, being shot in the back by a second man who runs up behind him:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued this statement:

Update: CBS interviewed Corey Hughes, brother of Mark Hughes whose photo was released by police. Hughes says his brother is not a suspect and claims he turned his weapon over to the police after the shooting began. No way to confirm this obviously:

Video of the person of interest handing his weapon over to police:

Update: Fox News reports the man in the photo, whom Dallas PD identified as a suspect, has turned himself in to police. Also this:

Update: Dallas PD confirms four officers have died out of 11 who were shot:

Also this video shows the suspect/person of interest being sought by police. You can see the rifle slung over his shoulder. At least in this brief clip he is standing on the corner watching as the chaos erupts. A police officer on a motorcycle rides right by him (h/t this Twitter user):

Update: The Police Chief says the suspects may have threatened to plant a bomb:

Here is a statement the Dallas PD posted on Facebook:

Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally. Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition.

An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time. We ask that any citizen with information regarding the shootings tonight call 214-671-3485.

Update: Dallas Morning News is reporting 4 officers have died, 3 were Dallas PD and one was Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). That seems to be contradicted by what the police chief said so it’s not clear which report is correct at this moment.

Dallas PD released this photo of a suspect/person of interest.

[End update]

There was a large protest in downtown Dallas, TX Thursday evening. As the protest was winding down, shots were fired. Early reports said two police officers were hit but authorities are now saying 10 officers were shot and three have died:

Video is rapidly appearing online. In this clip you can hear there were a lot of shots being fired. Note: The person filming this video uses some NSFW language:

Fox News reported that one shooter was “neutralized” but it’s not clear what that means.

There was also a report that police were negotiating with one of the shooters:

Trains in the downtown area were stopped for the safety of riders:

This is still early reporting so some of this may change.
