Sen. Sessions: Hillary Clinton the most anti-2nd amendment candidate ever

Senator Jeff Sessions appeared on Fox News Sunday and was asked about the NRA decision to endorse Donald Trump. Sessions replied, “Hillary Clinton is the most anti-2nd amendment president, perhaps we’ve ever had.” Sessions probably intended to say “presidential candidate” but rushed his answer a bit.

Sessions continued, “She said again recently that the Heller decision that protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms was wrong.” Sessions may have been referring to a statement made by Clinton’s policy adviser Maya Harris last week. The adviser told Bloomberg, “Clinton believes Heller was wrongly decided in that cities and states should have the power to craft common sense laws to keep their residents safe, like safe storage laws to prevent toddlers from accessing guns.”

Sessions went on to suggest the death of Justice Scalia had put the 2nd amendment right to bear arms in a precarious position. “Right now, with the death of Justice Scalia and the vacancy on the court, it’s four to four…four support the Heller decision, four against,” Sessions said. He added, “She gets in she appoints somebody who changes it. And what that means is, it’s no longer a personal right to have a gun but every city, county and state can completely ban firearms in America.” Justice Scalia was the author of the 5-4 Heller decision.

Sessions concluded his remarks saying, “This would be the greatest reduction of 2nd amendment rights since the founding of the republic. It’s a tremendous issue and Americans need to understand the extent of her radical position on it.”

Sen. Sessions remarks come about 6:30 into this clip of his appearance:
