Via Story Balloon and Karl Rove, Barack Obama seems to have yet another problem with research. Yesterday, on the anniversary of Porkulus, Obama claimed that his economic stimulus saved America from total economic collapse, and repeated his claim that Porkulus saved or created 2 million jobs. Rove took a look at the Recovery site — supposedly the official site to produce those statistics — and it accounted for just over a quarter of that number:
According to Recovery.gov, the number of funded jobs reported by Porkulus recipients is 595,263. which is a far cry from 2 million. Either Obama can’t be bothered to do research, or someone can’t keep their lies straight.
And also note that the new metric “funded jobs”, which supposedly replaced “jobs created or saved,” is also reported fewer jobs than the old metric.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
