Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

No surprise this fine Sunday morning that today’s pre-election line-up looks a lot like last week’s pre-election line-up. Donald Trump and Marco Rubio will be on “This Week,” Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will be on “Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation,” and “State of the Union,” and Ted Cruz will be on … er, nowhere as of this writing, a strange omission for someone who just won Iowa and stands a real chance of second place in New Hampshire. Maybe he’ll be a late addition.

The second tier in New Hampshire will also be on as they make one last push to catch Rubio and Cruz for a spot in the top three. Chris Christie and John Kasich will appear on “State of the Union” and “Fox News Sunday,” where they’ll be joined by Jeb Bush. In Christie’s case, that’s a generous amount of media exposure for a guy who’s cratered and is now steadily polling at 4-5 percent. Jeb’s numbers are better but he also looks set to be an also-ran at 9-10 percent. The wild card is Kasich, who’s reached the low teens in several polls this week and scored a surprise 17 percent — good for second place — in ARG’s tracking poll of the state. He’s actually tied with Cruz for third in RCP’s poll average right now. Kasich has no path to victory in any of the states to come this month, so him finishing second on Tuesday night would change the race only by raising new doubts about Rubio’s strength ahead of South Carolina. If you favor Trump or Cruz, you should be pulling hard for him this week. The full line-up is at the AP.
