Sunday morning talking heads

It’s an impeachment smorgasbord for brunch this fine Sunday morning, with the chat shows lining up members of each party to spin this week’s House vote formally authorizing the Ukraine inquiry. The star guest (and the sole member of the White House booked as of Saturday morning): Kellyanne Conway, who’ll be on “State of the Union” and “Fox News Sunday” to explain whether she, er, really believes that Pelosi doesn’t have the votes to actually impeach Trump. Conway’s Sunday interviews are always contentious but it’ll be especially interesting to see what happens if she and Chris Wallace get into it. Wallace will want to show that Shep Smith’s departure hasn’t cowed Fox News’s news division; Trump will want to exploit any aggressive questioning of Conway as further evidence that Fox isn’t “on the team” anymore. Something’s got to give.

Expect Conway to be asked in both segments about her blow-up with a Washington Examiner reporter over mentions of her anti-Trump husband George in coverage of her White House work. Does Conway really believe the media should ignore the fact that the president’s senior advisor is married to one of the most prominent Never Trumpers in the country? Wallace and Jake Tapper will try to get a straight answer out of her.

Elsewhere around the dial, Democratic and Republican members of the House will be trading impeachment talking points. On “Face the Nation” it’s majority leaders Steny Hoyer and Kevin McCarthy, on “This Week” it’s Foreign Affairs Committee chair Eliot Engel and Steve Scalise, and on “Meet the Press” it’s Terri Sewell and Tom Cole. Democrats James Clyburn and Jim Himes will counter Conway on “State of the Union” and “Fox News Sunday,” respectively.

If none of that grabs you, Andrew Yang will be on “Meet the Press” to discuss how he outlasted Beto O’Rourke in the campaign and very well might outlast Kamala Harris. The full line-up is at the AP.
