Sometimes on the Sunday shows there’s no single marquee guest whose appearance is must-see. Not today. All eyes are on new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, who’ll be on to downplay reports of animosity between him and Reince Priebus, prepare the rhetorical battlespace for Trump’s inevitable firing of Bob Mueller, and artfully dodge questions about why he’s donated to every major Democrat in the known universe. Old theory: As a Trump pal, “Mooch” will put the president at ease and bring order to his chaotic universe. New theory: Mooch is actually a Democratic plant tasked with bringing down the Trump administration from within.
He’s the lead guest this morning on “State of the Union” and “Fox News Sunday.” Elsewhere, some of the major players in the endless clusterfark that is the GOP health-care reform process will be on to restate their skepticism about the Senate bill for the umpteenth time. Moderate opponent Susan Collins is the lead guest on “Face the Nation” while conservative opponent Rand Paul will follow Scaramucci on “State of the Union.” A minor question they’ll both face: Er, which bill is “the Senate bill” right now? Is it clean repeal, the BCRA, or something else? Republicans … aren’t sure. They’re 48 hours away from a vote!
