Is this really as close as we’re going to get to a bona fide lefty media meltdown on the day the new tea-party Congress was finally sworn in? Big Ed reading from his political Book of Revelation about the coming Republican apocalypse — and then sheepishly apologizing for it? Good lord. I remember a day not long ago when even CNN correspondents out on assignment could be counted on to get snotty with the conservatives they deigned to interview. Fast-forward 18 months or so and now they’re hosting debates together. What happened? Was Boehner’s conciliatory speech really that effective?
