Embarrassing technical glitch of the day

Only within the last hour did I realize that CK MacLeod’s post from yesterday about ObamaCare has been carrying my byline, so here’s an official correction and apology to CK for the error. I don’t know why this keeps happening but it’s not the first time. Doc Zero’s byline was swallowed on a post a few months ago and we thought we’d corrected the glitch after that, but evidently not. I’ve alerted our tech guys to the problem; from now on, Ed and I will double-check after posts are promoted to make sure authorship is clear. (Since CK’s post included a link to his own site and a reference to an earlier post he’d written, most of our commenters seem to have realized that he wrote it.)

I think I’ve mentioned this before but it’s an opportunity to remind you again: Anytime you see something amiss on the site, whether it’s a busted link or an offensive comment or a mis-sized thumbnail, you must e-mail us at tips -at- hotair.com to let us know. In 24 hours, we received not one heads up about the CK error; lately, I’ll spot a broken link in Headlines and there’ll be 30-40 comments in the thread saying “bad link” — with not a single person thinking to shoot us a message to get our attention. I know it’s inconvenient to interrupt your surfing by opening up an e-mail program and banging out a message, but it’s essential in helping us to monitor the site. Leaving something in the thread like “Ed and AP — Please fix” ain’t going to solve the problem for the simple reason that Ed and I don’t have time to read the comments on most days. Writing a few dozen posts, scores of Headlines items, and monitoring literally hundreds of newsfeeds for new content take precedence, especially given the sheer volume to pick through (4000-5000 comments on an average weekday). So e-mail us, okay? Consider it an in-kind contribution in lieu of the monetary donation you’ve never been asked to make.
