An interesting bit comes at the end when they try to flesh out the distinction between “escort” and “prostitute.” Dupre claims escorts offer more than sex, but her rendezvous with Spitz evidently involved nothing more than a few hours in a hotel room. I think she’s actually drawing a class distinction, albeit one that feels sufficiently absurd that she’s reluctant to articulate it: Street-walkers are “prostitutes” but those on call, who command four-figure rates, fancy themselves as something more precious.
