I searched in vain for a complete version with English subtitles so we’ll have to settle for the bits and pieces in Haaretz’s report. I’m woozy at the thought of how this spot would be received in the United States, even though it aims squarely at the subtext of both the left’s and right’s laments over American dependency on, ahem, “foreign oil.” In fact, it’s considerably more politically correct than it needs to be: A proper telling of this story would show Wahhabist clerics taking payoffs from our protagonists and using the money to print up Arab-language copies of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
